Speaking at the conference, the Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Lien Minh Commune, Nguyen Thi Anh, emphasized that in the context of the strong digital transformation taking place in all areas of social life, the application of cashless payments in buying, selling, and consumption activities is an inevitable trend, in line with the requirements of current socio -economic development. However, in traditional markets, the habit of using cash is still prevalent, and access to digital payment methods for traders and people still faces many difficulties.
Based on this reality, the Women's Union of Lien Minh commune proactively advised, developed, and implemented the model of "Cashless payment market - civilized market" and launched the "Cashless business route," initially selecting Tho Xuan market as a pilot model to organize implementation, gain experience, and expand in the future.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh, the "Cashless Payment Market - Civilized Market" model not only focuses on changing payment methods through QR codes, e-wallets, and bank accounts, but also aims to build a civilized and modern business environment. In this model, small traders are supported in accessing and using digital platforms to promote and sell their goods; publicly displaying prices; ensuring environmental hygiene, food safety, and maintaining security and order at the market.
In addition, the model contributes to building an image of friendly and courteous business people who sell at the listed prices, avoid commercial fraud, do not encroach on sidewalks and roads, and create a safe and convenient shopping environment for the public.
Thọ Xuân Market currently has 62 small traders, and all of them have been informed and guided on accessing cashless payment methods. To date, 50 households have installed and used QR codes for bank and e-wallet payments, reaching over 80%, with the rate of cashless transactions in daily buying and selling activities reaching approximately 70%.
These results demonstrate a clear shift in the awareness and actions of small business owners and the general public, affirming the suitability, feasibility, and scalability of the model, contributing to the gradual integration of digital transformation into daily life.
Assessing the significance of the model, the Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Lien Minh commune stated that reducing the use of cash makes transactions safer, more transparent, and saves time; while also improving the efficiency of revenue and expenditure management for business households. More importantly, the model creates an initial foundation for the development of the digital economy at the grassroots level, helping small-scale businesses gradually integrate with the overall digital transformation process of the locality.
In the coming period, based on the results of the pilot model at Tho Xuan market, the Women's Union of Lien Minh commune will continue to coordinate with the People's Committee of the commune and relevant agencies to evaluate the effectiveness, draw lessons, and develop a roadmap to replicate the model in other markets, business streets, and trading areas in the locality, in accordance with actual conditions.
The Women's Union of Lien Minh commune has determined to continue playing a core role in propaganda, mobilization, and supporting small traders, contributing to building a more civilized and modern traditional market that meets the requirements of development in the new era.
