Phuoc Binh B Primary School, Campus IV reopens to welcome students back

On the morning of December 1, many parents rowed boats or used motorbikes to take their children to Phuoc Binh B Primary School, Campus IV, in Phuoc Giang Hamlet, Phuoc Chi Commune. At around 7am, the children went out to clean the school yard. In just a short while, the school yard and classrooms were clean and spotless.

After the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week, the students began to go to class. The classrooms and functional rooms that were flooded a few weeks ago are now dry. Desks and chairs are neatly arranged; computers are ready for teaching and learning. The teachers guided the students to take out their notebooks to review the old lessons and learn new knowledge.

The computer room has been reconnected to serve teaching and learning.

Principal of Phuoc Binh B Primary School, Ho Van Tron, said that every year, during the flood season, this school is flooded. Therefore, the school has developed a separate plan for the school to open two weeks before the opening day. That way, when the floodwaters rise, the school will give students two weeks off, while still ensuring that the teaching program is met.

After two weeks, the flood water has not receded, the school will teach online for the students. This year, the flooding lasted for a long time, so the students have an additional 1.5 weeks of online learning at home. Thanks to that, although they have not been to school for more than 3.5 weeks, they are still guaranteed knowledge according to the teaching program of the Ministry of Education and Training .

However, the principal of Phuoc Binh B Primary School is concerned that although the flood water has receded, the road from home to school is flooded in many places, students still have to go to school by boat, while the school does not have the capacity to fully equip students with life jackets.

The school hopes that donors will consider supporting about 60 more life jackets for the children to ensure safety.

The principal added that the school was built a long time ago and has deteriorated, and the number of classrooms cannot meet the demand for two-session learning as prescribed. The school has submitted a proposal to rebuild six new classrooms, including three on the ground floor and three on the upper floor. "The proposal has been approved, and construction may begin in 2026," said Mr. Tron.

Similarly, Hoa Binh Primary School, Campus II in Phuoc Long Hamlet, and Campus III in Phuoc Hoi Hamlet, Phuoc Chi Commune, are also bustling again.

Principal of Hoa Binh Primary School Le Thanh Son shared that to ensure safety during this year's flood season, from November 6, the Board of Directors has temporarily stopped students from attending classes at home; teachers are required to come to school to teach online for them. Immediately after the water receded, the school notified parents to bring their children back to class. Currently, both satellite schools have resumed normal operations and still ensure the teaching program according to regulations./.
