Tam Giang Commune: Promoting the effectiveness of the grassroots broadcasting system

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Tam Giang Commune, said: The commune has a large area with 34 villages and hamlets, so the grassroots loudspeaker system still plays an important role in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and providing useful information to listeners. Therefore, the Commune People's Committee's Staff Office has allocated funds to upgrade and convert the commune radio station to apply information and telecommunications technology. Currently, the whole commune has 102 loudspeaker clusters in operation, serving well the work of information, propaganda, management and operation in the locality.

Tam Giang commune's broadcasting system is connected to computers and telephones, helping to transmit information more quickly.

Tam Giang Commune has upgraded the radio to connect computers and telephones, helping to save costs on equipping transmitters, antennas, and land funds. Broadcasting is done by simple operations on software installed on computers and mobile phones.

Listening to news from loudspeakers has become a habit of many people in Tam Giang commune. Ms. Do Thi Bich Lien (Tam Thinh village) confided: "I often wake up early, clean the garden and listen to news on loudspeakers. Thanks to that, I learn more knowledge, useful information, listen to good economic methods to apply to my family."

Mr. Truong Van Nghia, Head of Tam Thinh village, shared: The commune radio broadcasts twice a day, early in the morning and late in the afternoon, thereby helping people in the area grasp the policies of the Party and State, and the activities and work of the locality. Having access to information about policies, learning knowledge and experience in production, many people have changed their thinking and working methods, no longer having the mentality of waiting and relying, proactively striving to escape poverty.

Tam Thinh village loudspeaker cluster daily transmits poverty reduction information to the people.

Mr. Le Ky Su, Chairman of Tam Giang Commune People's Committee, said: In the coming time, the locality will continue to comprehensively implement poverty reduction communication work on information to people and officials working on poverty reduction. The focus is on propagating effective poverty reduction projects and models; supporting people in using telecommunications services, the Internet, and information technology applications, helping the poor to be more proactive in accessing and enjoying policies and mechanisms on poverty reduction and social security as well as learning experiences and solutions to escape poverty sustainably.
