With a "legacy" of 100 novels, Dr. Nguyen Thien Luan, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, has been awarded the Vietnam Record for "The person who has written the most novels since retirement with the highest number of published works."
The Vietnam Institute of Records awarded a certificate to Dr. Nguyen Thien Luan (born in 1941) on January 22nd in Hanoi .
After leaving his position in state administration, Dr. Nguyen Thien Luan devoted himself entirely to literature. In the nearly 20 years since his retirement, he has written over 100 novels, along with numerous poems, covering a wide range of themes such as current events, history, science , human relationships, and social life. His works are not only diverse in content but also demonstrate the depth of thought, life experience, and rich knowledge of a seasoned intellectual.

At the time of being considered for the record, the total number of novel pages written by Dr. Nguyen Thien Luan reached 41,046, with more than 50 novels already published. This is considered a remarkable achievement resulting from a serious, persistent, and passionate artistic endeavor. His tireless journey in literature has inspired and motivated many writers to continue contributing to the creative field.
Some of his novels include: "The Path to Fame," "A Life of Integrity," "Teacher and Student," and the historical novels "Empress of Two Dynasties," "Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang," and "Emperor Le Dai Hanh," which deeply evoke Ninh Binh, his hometown – a place connected to his childhood and soul.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Doan Hop, former Minister of Information and Communications, stated that books are a timeless treasure, and reading helps to enrich knowledge and perfect human character. He expressed his hope that after this record-breaking achievement, the works of Dr. Nguyen Thien Luan will continue to spread more widely in society; and he expects the author to continue creating and conquering new milestones in the future.
