Building Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone as an important trading hub
The Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone Planning until 2045 has just been approved by the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Council to promote the economic zone; becoming a new dynamic area, competing with the region and internationally.
Tay Ninh Provincial People's Council, 10th term, 13th session, Resolution No. 159 approved the Master Plan for construction of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone to 2045.
Accordingly, the planning scope and boundaries have been approved in Decision No. 966/QD-TTg dated August 10, 2022 of the Prime Minister , including: the entire administrative boundaries of Ben Cau town, Long Thuan, Tien Thuan, Loi Thuan, An Thanh communes of Ben Cau district and Phuoc Chi, Phuoc Binh communes of Trang Bang town, Tay Ninh province.

Regarding the objectives, the planning and construction of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone has a short-term period until 2023 and a long-term period until 2045 to promote the economic zone to become a new dynamic area, economic growth and development with regional and international competitiveness; an important trade hub of the Southeast region and the Southern key economic region between Vietnam and Cambodia and the ASEAN region; a center for border gate services, international container transit ports and logistics services; a center for finance, trade and land border services in the Southeast region.
Along with that is the development of economic zones towards high-tech industry, green industry, green - clean, smart, sustainable urban areas with national identity in international integration and connection. Improve land use efficiency and quality of life; protect and develop sustainably with the environment. Move towards completing the strategies of the country, the Southeast region and the province on industry, urban areas, tourism, agriculture.
Besides, it also meets new requirements in the strategy to ensure the tasks and goals of national defense and security; socio-economic development is associated with ensuring national defense and security. Contributing to promoting cooperation, economic, cultural and social exchanges and ensuring a peaceful, friendly border area, synchronous, harmonious and sustainable development.
In addition, it also serves as a legal basis for managing land use in economic zones; managing development and investment in construction in economic zones; investing in completing the technical framework system. Establishing general planning (if any), zoning planning, detailed planning, investment projects, urban development programs and classifying Ben Cau urban area before 2030.
In terms of nature, this is also a multi-sector, multi-sector economic zone with industrial - urban - commercial - service - tourism and agricultural - forestry functions associated with the country's foreign affairs activities, economic and cultural exchanges and political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam, Cambodia and the ASEAN region.
An important international trade hub between Vietnam and Cambodia; an industrial - urban - commercial - service and logistics center of the Southeast region and the Southern key economic region with industrial - urban functions. International container transit port and logistics services play a key role, combined with tourism development and development of other economic sectors.
In particular, this is also a place with an important position in terms of national defense and security, closely linking socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security.
The forecasted population and labor force by 2030 is about 105,000 - 155,000 people, by 2045 it is about 310,000 people (of which: Ben Cau urban area is about 195,000 people, Trang Bang area is about 65,000 people; converted population is about 50,000 people).
Forecasts on land use demand for urban construction and border gate functional areas also have large differences.
By 2030, urban construction land, functional areas in economic zones, other functional areas and industrial parks will be about 6,500 - 7,500 hectares (of which civil land is about 2,000 - 2,500 hectares); agricultural land and other land is about 13,784 hectares.
By 2045, urban construction land, functional areas in economic zones, other functional areas and industrial parks will be about 10,500 - 12,500 hectares (of which civil land is about 3,500 - 4,000 hectares); agricultural land and other land is about 8,784 hectares.
Regarding the scale of the main economic and technical indicators, by 2045, criteria equivalent to the standards of a type II urban area will be applied, ensuring compliance with current standards, norms and regulations, taking into account the specific factors of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone.
To carry out the planning and construction of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, Tay Ninh Provincial People's Council has assigned the Provincial People's Committee to complete the procedures, submit them to competent authorities for decision and organize and implement them in accordance with regulations.
At the same time, assign the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Council Committees, the Delegation Groups and the Provincial People's Council delegates to supervise the implementation of the Resolution. Request the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the provincial socio-political organizations to propagate and participate in supervising the implementation of the Resolution.
