Maintaining a peaceful school environment
In Hoa Xuan ward, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quy, Head of the Ward Police, said that in order to raise awareness among students about the harmful effects of drugs and e-cigarettes, the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Da Nang City Police coordinated with Nguyen Van Thoai High School to organize a legal knowledge dissemination session for more than 1,232 students.
Through vivid and engaging visual presentations, speakers from the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department provided basic information on identifying common types of drugs, the methods and tactics used by malicious individuals to lure and entice, especially students. Beyond simply disseminating knowledge, the presentation also focused on warning about the serious health, psychological, and future consequences for young people using drugs and e-cigarettes.
According to Mr. Dang Hung Thuong, Principal of Nguyen Van Thoai High School, through real-life scenarios and direct question-and-answer sessions, students are equipped with additional skills to identify risks, protect themselves, and proactively say no to drugs. Strengthening awareness campaigns is a practical solution for early and proactive prevention, contributing to building a safe and healthy school environment, while also promoting coordination between the police force and the education sector in managing and educating students.

Not only at the secondary school level, but drug prevention and control in schools is also emphasized in the university environment. In Thanh Khe ward, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Da Nang City Police recently coordinated with Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports to organize a campaign to raise awareness about drug prevention and control and the use of addictive substances for the university's staff, lecturers, and students.
During the program, the speaker provided information on the current crime and drug abuse situation, and warned about the trend of drugs infiltrating schools in many sophisticated forms such as disguised drugs, e-cigarettes, laughing gas, or stimulants disguised as food and drinks.
Nguyen Phuong Anh, a second-year student at the university, shared that through the awareness campaign, she gained a better understanding of the harmful effects of drugs and e-cigarettes on health. "Before, I thought e-cigarettes were less harmful than regular cigarettes, but after the campaign, I learned that they contain many toxic substances, are easily addictive, and seriously affect health," Phuong Anh said.
A highlight of the program is the visual presentation of drug paraphernalia, tools used for drug consumption, and common addictive substances. This aims to help students better identify disguised drugs appearing in daily life, enhance their vigilance, and proactively prevent drug use.
Erecting a "shield" to protect schools.
Drug prevention and control in schools is not only a concern in urban areas but also in mountainous regions. Recently, in Nam Tra My commune, Kim Dong Primary School organized a drug prevention and control awareness program and launched the "Drug-Free, Tobacco-Free School" model for the 2025-2026 school year.
To ensure the effectiveness of the awareness campaign, the commune's police officers disseminated practical information about the harmful effects of drugs, tobacco, and e-cigarettes, while also guiding students on how to recognize the signs and tactics used by drug criminals, as well as self-protection skills.

The students also had the opportunity to interact, answer questions, and gain valuable knowledge related to drug prevention and control in schools.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham The Long, Head of the Nam Tra My Commune Police, said that in addition to propaganda activities, the school has launched the "Drug-Free, Tobacco-Free School" model and implemented a commitment signing program for all staff, teachers, and students in the school.
The commitment focuses on not using, possessing, or illegally transporting drugs; not smoking cigarettes or e-cigarettes; and actively promoting and encouraging family members to do the same.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham The Long, given the increasing prevalence of drugs and e-cigarettes targeting young people, promoting awareness and education on prevention skills within schools is an urgent requirement. Close cooperation between the police, schools, families, and society will contribute to creating a "shield" to protect students from the temptations and dangers of drugs, building a safe, healthy, and holistically developing school environment.
