Develop appropriate operational scenarios.
According to Da Nang Power Company (PC Da Nang), during the peak dry season months from April to August 2026, the Central region of Vietnam will experience prolonged periods of hot weather, which is also the time when the service and tourism industries of Da Nang city will thrive. This will lead to a high demand for electricity in most sectors and could put significant pressure on the power distribution grid system.
The forecast for electricity demand in the city in 2026 continues to show strong growth. Specifically, the baseline scenario predicts an increase of approximately 10%, while the extreme scenario forecasts an increase of approximately 12% compared to 2025. Peak electricity consumption will occur both day and night, particularly between 8 PM and 11 PM.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan, Deputy Director of Da Nang Power Company, said that he has requested subordinate units to review and analyze load data by area, especially for large electricity consumers (from 1 million kWh/month or more) and important loads approved by the City People's Committee, in order to develop appropriate operating methods and system management scenarios.
Alongside developing operational plans, Da Nang Power Company is implementing numerous projects to renovate and upgrade the power grid; accelerating the progress of medium and low voltage projects, and simultaneously deploying projects to modernize and automate the power grid in order to improve operational efficiency and minimize incidents.
Supply assurance
The People's Committee of Da Nang City has issued Decision No. 1682/QD-UBND approving the electricity supply plan for Da Nang City in 2026. Accordingly, the city approved the operating method of the Da Nang City electricity distribution system in 2026; the method of ensuring electricity supply during the dry season in 2026; the operating method of the Da Nang City electricity distribution system under natural disaster conditions in 2026...

In fulfilling its responsibilities, Da Nang Power Company (PC Da Nang) is strengthening its review and consolidation of the power grid from 110kV to low voltage levels. Substations and power lines are regularly inspected, and load levels are assessed to proactively plan for load balancing and transfer when necessary.
In addition, the work of adjusting and managing load demand has achieved positive results. Da Nang Power Company has completed the renewal of demand response (DR) agreements with more than 400 large customers; and also reached agreements with 625 customers equipped with backup diesel generators with an installed capacity of approximately 473.2 MVA to mobilize these sources to self-supply electricity on-site when there is a power shortage on the national power grid, especially during peak hours.
According to Nguyen Van Tru, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Department of Industry and Trade, regarding load balancing and electricity reduction, the department has requested Da Nang Power Company (PC Da Nang) to prioritize electricity supply to important loads and key customers, while providing complete, timely, and transparent information so that units and businesses can proactively plan their production. The department also requested PC Da Nang to thoroughly research and assess the impact and develop appropriate electricity supply plans in case large customers switch from other energy sources to electricity; and to promote the application of technology in load management and forecasting to improve the efficiency of the power system.
