The economy maintains a fairly good growth rate; the average annual growth rate of production value is estimated at 7.52%. The district was recognized as meeting the new rural standards in 2020; there are 5 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards, 2 model new rural communes and 20 provincial-level OCOP products. The socio-economic infrastructure has received investment attention; the rate of hardened roads in the area reached 99.8%. Some external traffic routes have received investment attention from the Central and the province, opening up new development space for the district.
The cultural and social fields have made much progress, education and training continue to develop, maintaining the leading educational achievements in the province. National defense and security are strengthened; political security and social order and safety are maintained.

Although the transportation network has developed, the traffic infrastructure is not synchronous, many roads are damaged and degraded. The tourism and service sectors have developed slowly; the urbanization rate is low. The leadership capacity and fighting strength of some party committees and authorities; The qualifications of the staff in some localities are still limited, in some cases there are cases of avoidance, pushing, lack of enthusiasm, lack of responsibility for work...
The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized: The above-mentioned shortcomings and limitations are also the difficulties and challenges that are arising in the process of construction and development, requiring Nong Cong district to make more efforts, be more determined, and take more drastic and effective actions to overcome them.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, he stated: Nong Cong is a land rich in patriotic and revolutionary traditions, with a long history closely linked to the construction and development of the country and the province. The district has an advantage in geographical location, adjacent to the dynamic economic centers of the province; has a convenient transportation system, which is a condition for expanding development space.
In addition, Nong Cong is a delta district with a relatively large area, very favorable for comprehensive agricultural development, in which the rice land area is the largest in the province. The natural resources of the district are very rich and diverse; at the same time, it is also a district with great potential for tourism development. The people in the district have a tradition of solidarity, diligence, dynamism, creativity in labor and production, with the aspiration to rise up and enrich their homeland and country.
With the above factors, it can be affirmed that Nong Cong's position and strength have grown much stronger than before and this is a great opportunity for the Party Committee, government and people in the district to exploit existing potentials and strengths, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals.
The 2020-2025 term is only about 1 year away, the difficulties and challenges are still very great, the remaining tasks are very heavy, Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung said that in order to successfully achieve the goal of striving for Nong Cong to be among the leading districts of the province by 2025 in the spirit of the Resolution of the 24th District Party Congress, the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and all the people in the district need to continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity and unity from the district to the grassroots; arouse and promote the will of self-reliance, self-improvement, the efforts and struggles of cadres, party members and people in organizing the implementation of socio-economic development programs and projects, creating clear changes in all fields.
Continue to lead and direct the effective implementation of key programs and breakthroughs in the spirit of the Resolution of the Congress at higher levels and the Resolution of the Congress at the same level, in conjunction with the implementation of the goals and tasks of 2024. Focus on reviewing the overall goals and main targets set out in the Resolution of the 24th District Party Congress. Referring to Nong Cong as the sedge granary in the North, the Provincial Party Secretary suggested that the district should focus on research, expansion and development of raw sedge areas, combining sedge - earthworms, rice - earthworms; effectively applying scientific and technical advances and producing and processing sedge, serving the development of small-scale industries and handicrafts in the area and supplying to other localities in the province and in the country.
