The Ministry of Public Security said that private vehicles are not required to install journey monitoring cameras according to the 4th draft of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety. The provisions in Article 33 only require certain types of motor vehicles and specialized motorbikes to be equipped with journey monitoring devices and collect data according to regulations.
The Traffic Police Department affirmed that installing dash cams on private cars, motorbikes and scooters is only encouraged to increase safety and support people while participating in traffic.
Dash cams are considered to help protect the rights of drivers in the event of a collision, serve as a basis for handling legal situations, and record images and incidents on the road, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety.
