U22 Vietnam ranked 2nd with the same 3 points but lower in the secondary index (+1). At the bottom of the table is U23 Laos, 0 points, goal difference -4. Thus, U22 Laos is the first team officially eliminated in men's football at SEA Games 33.
In the final match of Group B taking place on December 11, the U22 Vietnam team will face U22 Malaysia directly.
With the current disadvantage in points, coach Kim Sang Sik's team must win to ensure top spot in the table and an official ticket to the semi-finals.
On the contrary, U22 Malaysia only needs a draw to complete the goal of winning a ticket to the next round. But in case U22 Vietnam cannot beat Malaysia, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will still try to draw in the hope of entering the semi-finals as the second-placed team with the best record.
