The Kon Tum Prison historical site, Kon Tum ward, Quang Ngai province.
The complex of communal houses, temples, and ancestral shrines in Tho Ha is located in the center of Tho Ha village – a typical ancient village of the Northern Delta region. Based on Han Nom documents, especially 30 ancient stone steles dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, it shows that the relics were formed very early and were restored and renovated in later periods. The structures belonging to the complex still preserve unique traditional architectural and artistic features along with valuable documents and artifacts.
This place houses nearly 100 ancient Buddha statues, a system of altars and palanquins, the national treasure of the Thổ Hà communal house's arched gateway, a system of stone steles, horizontal plaques, couplets, and ceramic incense burners and censers - unique products of the Thổ Hà pottery village.
The Kon Tum Prison historical site preserves the legacy of the struggle against French colonialism. It once held political prisoners who were brought here by the French from Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Thua Thien-Hue provinces. Despite imprisonment and torture, these fighters remained steadfast in their struggle through various means, and many sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation. This place has become a symbol of national will and strength, a place for present and future generations to remember the traditions of their ancestors, and a cradle of revolution for the people of the Central Highlands.
