Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang said that in 2025, the Courts accepted 683,341 cases, resolved and tried 618,341 cases, reaching a rate of 90.49%, 0.77% higher than the previous year.
The rate of judgments and decisions annulled or amended due to subjective reasons was 0.69%, 0.08% lower than the previous year, and met the requirements set forth in the National Assembly resolution.
Regarding the settlement and trial of criminal cases, the Courts have settled and tried 98.63% of cases and 97.38% of defendants, 0.45% higher than the previous year in terms of the number of cases and 0.56% in terms of the number of defendants, exceeding 10.63% of the National Assembly resolution target.
" The trial of criminal cases must be strict, with the right person, the right crime, and the right law. Many cases under the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity have been strictly handled, and their monitoring and direction have been highly appreciated by public opinion ," affirmed the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.
Regarding the settlement and adjudication of civil cases, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang said that the Courts have settled and adjudicated 88.64% of cases, 1.13% higher than last year and exceeding the National Assembly Resolution target by 10.64%.
Effectively carry out mediation work; do a good job of guiding the parties to fulfill their obligations to provide evidence and documents of the case; strengthen coordination with relevant agencies to resolve the case well. As of September 30, there are no more cases that have exceeded the deadline for resolution due to subjective reasons.
The Supreme People's Court and high-level People's Courts have resolved 64.22% of requests for review and retrial, exceeding 4.22% compared to the National Assembly Resolution.
Besides the positive results, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court also frankly acknowledged that the activities of the Courts still have some shortcomings and limitations.
Accordingly, there are still a number of judgments and decisions that have been annulled or amended due to subjective reasons; human resources, facilities, and working equipment of a number of units and courts have not met work requirements, especially for regional People's Courts.
" Some civil servants have not strictly followed public discipline, leading to violations of the law and regulations of the industry; the implementation of some projects is slower than planned due to the need to review and adjust to suit the organizational structure, functions and tasks after the reorganization ," the report stated.
No case of wrongful conviction of an innocent person has been found.
Regarding the review, Chairman of the Law and Justice Committee Hoang Thanh Tung said that regarding the trial and settlement of cases, the Courts have accelerated progress and improved the quality of case settlement, basically achieving and exceeding many targets assigned by the National Assembly.

Regarding the trial and settlement of criminal cases, according to Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung Tung, basically the cases were brought to trial within the time limit prescribed by law; the trial rate reached 98.63%, exceeding the National Assembly's requirement of 10.63%.
The trial is basically guaranteed to be strict and in accordance with the law. The quality of the trial is guaranteed, no case of wrongful conviction of an innocent person has been discovered; the rate of judgments and decisions that are overturned or amended due to subjective reasons meets the requirements of the National Assembly.
" The cases under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee on anti-corruption, waste and negativity have been brought to trial promptly and strictly; focusing on measures to recover assets, and have received the consensus, support and high appreciation of public opinion and people, " said Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung.
Regarding the work of adjudicating and resolving civil cases, Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung assessed that the rate of resolving civil cases reached 88.64%, exceeding the National Assembly's requirement of 10.64%. The Courts have done a good job of mediation in litigation between the parties.
The rate of judgments and decisions being annulled or amended due to subjective reasons is low, meeting the National Assembly's requirements (not exceeding 1.5%). The trial and resolution of civil cases basically ensures the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved.
