On November 1st, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Truong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Mang Den commune ( Quang Ngai province), said that functional forces had mobilized machinery to clear approximately 1,000 cubic meters of soil and rocks that had slid down from the embankment onto National Highway 24, near Ba Tang slope (Mang Den commune), in order to ensure smooth traffic flow.
At the same location on the embankment, a crack approximately 50 meters long and 20-50 centimeters wide has appeared, "hanging" precariously above the ground, posing a potential risk of further landslides and collapse onto the road at any time. This is especially concerning given that Quang Ngai is experiencing renewed rainfall, and the ground is already saturated with water after many days of heavy downpours.
According to the leaders of Mang Den commune's People's Committee, the area where the cracks appeared contains an estimated 3,000 cubic meters of soil and rocks. Local authorities have notified the road management unit to monitor the situation and develop a plan for thorough remediation when the weather is dry.
Authorities have now put up warning signs, deployed machinery on standby, and are ready to clear debris if landslides occur to ensure traffic flow.
National Highway 24, approximately 165km long, is the only transportation route connecting Quang Ngai province with the Central Highlands region and plays a crucial role. It also serves as the access road to the Mang Den tourist area.

Meanwhile, in Hamlet 4, Tra Van Village, Tay Tra Bong Commune, Quang Ngai Province, a crack approximately 400 meters long and 10-30 centimeters wide was also discovered, encircling the residential area.
This location is situated at the headwaters of the Ka Tinh hydroelectric power plant, in a ravine approximately 500 meters deep; if a landslide occurs, it will be extremely dangerous.
The Tây Trà Bồng commune authorities immediately coordinated with the Regional Defense Command 1 - Sơn Tịnh (under the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Military Command) to mobilize 15 officers, 2 vehicles, and necessary equipment to the scene to assist in relocating all residents to safety.
At the same time, they are constantly monitoring developments to respond promptly if any adverse situation arises.
Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Tra Bong commune, reported that the cracks are continuing to widen, with many areas having subsided by more than 1 meter. The local authorities have arranged temporary housing and food for the residents and will report to the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee to request urgent action.
