Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in the first 10 months of 2023 earned 43.08 billion USD

In 2023, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports could reach 53 - 54 billion USD. Name the 3 markets that buy the most agricultural, forestry and fishery products from Vietnam.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in October 2023, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at 4.81 billion USD, up 7.43% compared to September 2023 and up 11.9% compared to October 2022.

In the first 10 months of 2023, rice exports are estimated to reach 3.97 billion USD, an increase of 34.9% over the same period last year.

Of which, agricultural products are estimated at 2.47 billion USD, up 31.1% compared to October 2022; livestock is estimated at 40 million USD, up 6%; forestry products are estimated at 1.28 billion USD, down 0.2%; aquatic products are estimated at 850 million USD, down 5.9%; production inputs are estimated at 162 million USD, down 12.3%.

In general, in the first 10 months of 2023, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated at 43.08 billion USD, down 4.2% over the same period last year.

Of which, the aquatic products group is estimated at 7.45 billion USD, down 20.5%; forestry products are estimated at 11.65 billion USD, down 19.3%; production input is estimated at 1.64 billion USD, down 20.3%.

The agricultural products group alone is estimated at 21.94 billion USD, up 17% over the same period and contributed by the export value of vegetables and fruits estimated at 4.91 billion USD, up 78.9%; rice exports are estimated at 3.97 billion USD, up 34.9%; cashew nut exports are estimated at 2.92 billion USD, up 14.8%.

Besides, the export livestock products group is estimated at 402 million USD, up 22% over the same period.

Regarding the average export price of some major agricultural products in the first 10 months of 2023, it is as follows: The export price of rubber is estimated at 1,330 USD/ton, down 17.3%; the export price of tea is 1,710 USD/ton, up 6.3%; the export price of cashew nuts is estimated at 5,693 USD/ton, down 5%; the export price of pepper is estimated at 3,339 USD/ton, down 23.4%; the export price of cassava and cassava products is 425 USD/ton, down 3.3%...

Export rice price alone is estimated at 558 USD/ton, up 15.3% and coffee 2,527 USD/ton, up 10.3% over the same period last year.

Regarding markets, in the first 10 months of the year, China, the United States and Japan continued to be the three largest export markets; of which, the export value to the Chinese market accounted for 22.8%, up 16.2%; the United States accounted for 20.6%, down 20.8% and Japan accounted for 7.5%, down 8.5%.

In the domestic market, in October, the domestic commodity market remained stable, supply was guaranteed, prices did not fluctuate abnormally, except for rice prices which tended to increase (rice prices in the Mekong Delta increased again by 300 - 600 VND/kg).

Pig prices fluctuated downward due to reduced consumption (down 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg); raw tiger shrimp prices tended to decrease at the end of the month (down 20,000 VND/kg); raw pangasius prices did not fluctuate much (27,000 - 33,000 VND/kg); fruit prices increased in the first 2 weeks and tended to decrease at the end of the month due to increased supply, of which, Hoa Loc mangoes were commonly priced at 58,000 VND/kg, Cat Chu mangoes were commonly priced at 30,000 VND/kg, red-fleshed dragon fruit was priced at 23,000 VND/kg...

Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development said that from now until the end of the year, the Ministry will promote the development of domestic consumption and export markets. Continue to handle market issues to create favorable conditions for the export of agricultural and aquatic products, especially to the markets of China, the United States, the EU, the Eurasian Economic Union, etc.

Take advantage of FTAs, especially the CPTPP and EVFTA, to boost the export of key agricultural, forestry and fishery products, and support businesses in signing new export orders. Coordinate support for trademark protection and geographical indications for potential Vietnamese export products abroad.

In addition, we will continue to monitor and grasp the situation of prices and supply of essential food items. Organize 970 Forums to support connection of agricultural product consumption; seminars to disseminate information, market regulations and consumer tastes, and connect consumption through the system of trade and agricultural counselors in markets and domestic retail distribution chains for some items with large output during harvest season (lychee, jackfruit, rambutan, dragon fruit, lemon...).
