Promoting tourism activities between Vietnam and Azerbaijan

According to Mr. Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency, Vietnam is a favorite destination for the people of this country. However, the lack of direct flights between the two countries has contributed to the modest number of Azerbaijani tourists to Vietnam in recent times.

On September 8, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai had a meeting and worked with CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency Florian Sengstschmid to promote the exchange of tourists between the two countries.

With the desire to promote and advertise Azerbaijan's tourism potential to the Vietnamese people, on this occasion, during a working trip to Vietnam, the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency Delegation, together with travel agencies and hotels of this country, attended the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair 2025 (ITE HCMC 2025) held in early September.

Azerbaijan Tourism Agency CEO Florian Sengstschmid shared that Vietnam is a favorite destination for Azerbaijani people. Azerbaijanis love to go to the beaches in the summer, many attractive places for them are: Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang , Nha Trang, Phu Quoc...

"Azerbaijani people have a long holiday in March and often travel with their families for 10-14 days during this time. However, currently, there is no direct flight connection between the two countries, so the number of Azerbaijani tourists to Vietnam is still modest," said Mr. Florian Sengstschmid.

Azerbaijan Tourism Agency CEO Florian Sengstschmid proposed to increase the organization of charter flights and wished to organize a business connection session between the two sides to learn about the market, customer characteristics, as well as business needs to create a long-term connection channel.

Azerbaijan Tourism Agency requested the Vietnam National Tourism Administration to support the connection with Vietnamese tourism businesses to implement this activity. The form of organization of the above cooperation activities can be seminars, online conferences or in-person conferences.

According to Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai, the potential for tourist exchange between Vietnam and Azerbaijan is still huge and she agrees with the proposals on establishing a cooperative relationship between the two national tourism management agencies. Thereby, creating opportunities for businesses on both sides to connect and promote tourism activities.

In addition, the tourism management units of the two countries can organize more famtrips, creating opportunities for both sides to visit each other, to learn about the tourism potential of the two countries. At the same time, it is recommended that the Azerbaijan side support in providing more information on the characteristics and needs of local tourists to design suitable tourism products.

Vietnam and Azerbaijan have both adopted a policy of granting each other e-visas with a stay of up to 90 days. This is a favorable condition to promote tourist exchange between the two countries.

Previously, in August 2025, the leaders of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Vietnam had a meeting to discuss measures to promote tourism cooperation. The two sides also encouraged tourism businesses to participate in international tourism fairs organized by each side such as: Azerbaijan Tourism and Travel Fair, Baku Tourism Fair... in Azerbaijan; Vietnam International Tourism Fair VITM, Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair... in Vietnam.
