According to VNA, with the title "Lao People's Army makes important contribution to Dien Bien Phu Victory", the article in Pasaxon newspaper emphasized that Dien Bien Phu Victory was not only the victory of the people.
Vietnam but also the victory of the people of Laos and Cambodia who united to fight against the common enemy to liberate the nation. This victory extinguished the will of old-style colonialism to invade, forcing the French colonial government to sign the 1954 Geneva Agreement on ending the war, restoring peace in Indochina, and recognizing the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
In another publication of Pasaxon newspaper titled “70 years of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the Vietnamese people develop comprehensively”, the article affirmed that Dien Bien Phu Victory was the most glorious victory in the history of the Vietnamese people’s struggle against foreign invaders, recognized by the history of the Vietnamese nation and world history in the 20th century. The article also pointed out that the valuable lessons drawn from Dien Bien Phu Victory were guiding theories, vivid practical lessons that Lao revolutionary soldiers flexibly applied in the Lao revolution and were also evidence in the establishment of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic at that time.
On the website of the Lao News Agency, there is an article titled “Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory” highlighting the Dien Bien Phu Victory as the most glorious victory in the history of the heroic Vietnamese people’s struggle against foreign invaders, recognized by the history of the Vietnamese people and world history in the 20th century for having smashed the colonial system of imperialism; clarifying the truth that a semi-colonial, semi-feudal nation with limited land, small population, backward and underdeveloped economy, small military force, and few weapons, if it has strong solidarity, correct direction and leadership, and knows how to mobilize and use the people’s armed forces to conduct people’s war, can defeat an invading enemy with a much stronger and more modern economic and military foundation.
The Lao National Radio's online newspaper also published an article titled "Dien Bien Phu Victory Promotes the Liberation Movement and the Establishment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic". The article stated that over the past 70 years, since the victory of Dien Bien Phu, the Vietnamese people have achieved comprehensive development and great achievements of historical significance. Political stability has been maintained, the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam has been enhanced, and the people have wholeheartedly trusted and followed the Party. In terms of economy, Vietnam has continuously grown and stabilized, people's lives have improved; national defense and security have maintained independence, sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity; foreign relations have been expanded, and Vietnam's position, role and influence have been increasingly enhanced in the region and internationally...
In addition, on the National Radio and National Television of Laos, many news, articles and interviews were also broadcast about the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. All affirmed that the Dien Bien Phu Victory was a resounding victory that shook the world, not only the victory and pride of the Vietnamese people and the countries on the Indochina Peninsula in particular, but also the victory and pride of all peace-loving peoples in the world in general.
In an article titled “Dien Bien Phu Victory: Everlasting Resonance”, Voces Del Periodista - a forum of 45,000 professional journalists in Mexico affirmed that the decision to change the combat strategy is considered a historic decision in a historic campaign, reflecting a process of sharp military thinking and flexible, creative handling of reality, and this is also the “key”, the decisive factor ensuring the victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
At the beginning of the article in Voces Del Periodista, author Mouris Salloum George stated that after 56 days and nights of steadfast fighting, digging mountains, sleeping in tunnels, the Vietnamese army and people, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, overcame all sacrifices and challenges to destroy the strongest military base of the French colonialists in Indochina. After 70 years, the echoes of the Dien Bien Phu Victory still resound like an immortal heroic epic of the 20th century.
In the article, author Mouris Salloum George, who is also the President of the Mexican Journalists Association, pointed out that one of the decisive factors of the Dien Bien Phu Victory was the spirit of solidarity of the Vietnamese people, something that the commander of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold, General De Castries, confessed to the Investigation Committee of the French Ministry of Defense after his defeat and return to France, "One can defeat an army, but one cannot defeat a nation."
According to journalist Mouris Salloum George, also Editor-in-Chief of Voces Del Periodista, this is the power of a people's war, led in a wonderful and skillful way, bringing great encouragement to oppressed peoples to stand up for independence, including many countries in Africa and Latin America.
At the end of the article, Voces Del Periodista affirmed that the Dien Bien Phu victory created an important turning point for the Vietnamese revolution, leading to the signing of the Geneva Agreement to end the war, restore peace in the Indochina region, creating the foundation and conditions for Vietnam to move forward to win the resistance war against the US. The historic Dien Bien Phu victory also showed the remarkable maturity of the Vietnam People's Army. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, this army has grown continuously. This was also the premise for Vietnam to continue to win the war for independence and national reunification 21 years later.
In an article published in a special issue of the Latin American news agency Prensa Latina, Doctor of Political Science, former Director of International Relations of the Venezuelan Presidential Palace Sergio Rodríguez Gelfenstein highlighted Vietnam's contributions to the anti-colonial struggle. According to this famous researcher, the Dien Bien Phu victory, along with the Algerian war of independence that ended in 1962 and the Cuito Cuanavale battle of the Cuban-Angola coalition in 1988, were the most resounding victories in the 20th century against European colonialism. The Dien Bien Phu victory was a symbol of unparalleled courage and a shining star of the national liberation movement, signaling the collapse of colonialism in the world.
Mr. Gelfenstein affirmed that the Dien Bien Phu victory and the signing of the Geneva Agreement marked the complete defeat of French colonialism in Indochina, preventing plans to expand colonialism in Southeast Asia, and at the same time encouraging oppressed colonial peoples around the world to rise up and fight for independence.
