On the morning of August 24, Yen Mo District People's Committee held a conference to summarize winter crop production in 2022 and deploy tasks and solutions for winter crop production in 2023.
In 2022, winter-spring rice harvest will be 12-15 days later, slowing down the production of summer-autumn and winter crops, and the land fund for growing warm-season crops such as corn, soybeans, peanuts, sweet potatoes, squash, tomatoes, etc. on rice fields and double-rice fields will be narrowed. However, with the strong direction of the Party Committee and authorities from the district to the grassroots level, the productivity, output, and harvest value of the district's crops are all higher than the 2021 winter crop.
In the 2022 winter crop, the whole district planted 1,482 hectares, reaching 98.8% of the plan; the total production value reached 142.6 billion VND (an increase of 3.4 billion VND), the average production value per hectare of cultivation reached 96.3 million VND, an increase of 3.6 million VND compared to the 2021 winter crop. In 2022, the district supported 2 models of organic vegetable, fruit and Thai sweet taro shoot production with a total cost of more than 100 million VND.
In the 2023 winter crop, Yen Mo district plans to cultivate 1,500 hectares or more (of which the expected area for production linkage and product consumption with enterprises and companies is over 150 hectares). Focus on developing winter crop production in the direction of restructuring the crop sector to increase added value and sustainable development; expand the area of high -value crops suitable for each locality. Build organic vegetable production models to ensure food safety in communes with concentrated vegetable growing areas such as Mai Son, Yen Thang, Yen Hoa, Yen Tu, Khanh Duong...; build a model of applying high technology in vegetable, root and fruit production in Mai Son and Yen Phong communes.
At the conference, the leaders of Yen Mo District People's Committee awarded 5 collectives with outstanding achievements in winter crop production in 2022.
