
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued Directive No. 271/BCT-KHTC on the implementation of Directive No. 36/CT-TTg dated December 31, 2026, of the Prime Minister on strengthening measures to ensure a joyful, healthy, safe, and economical Lunar New Year celebration in 2026.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has instructed the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to closely monitor market developments and proactively direct localities to develop plans to prepare the supply of essential goods and goods with high consumer demand during Tet; ensuring quality, fully and promptly meeting the needs of the people, and preventing shortages or disruptions in supply that could lead to unreasonable price increases.
The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development coordinates with localities to implement market stabilization programs, supply-demand connection activities, trade promotion, and programs to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas, industrial zones, and remote areas; directs businesses producing and trading essential goods and goods in high demand during the Lunar New Year to develop plans to ensure a continuous and sufficient supply of goods to the market at reasonable prices; and directs units and businesses to ensure the supply of gasoline and diesel to the market during the end of the year and the Lunar New Year.
This unit is also tasked with closely coordinating with the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct market management forces to implement the peak plan to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026. This includes strengthening market inspection and control, focusing on checking the origin and quality of products and goods, e-commerce, price listing, and selling goods at listed prices; combating speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases for essential goods and goods in high demand;
Coordinate with relevant authorities to strictly control transportation routes, warehouses, and goods collection and transshipment points in order to promptly detect and effectively combat acts of trading, transporting, storing smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, prohibited goods, and other commercial fraud.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also assigned the Electricity Department to take the lead and coordinate with other units (EVN, NSMO, etc.) to implement tasks related to ensuring electricity supply for production and daily life of the people, especially before, during, and after the Lunar New Year.
The National Competition Commission is responsible for proactively coordinating with relevant agencies and units to strengthen guidance, supervision, and strict handling of violations of laws on consumer protection and competition law; and coordinating with media agencies to promptly and fully inform the public about violations of laws on consumer protection.
