VnExpressVnExpress06/03/2024

In Quang Ngai, nine people on board a 700-horsepower fishing boat had just disembarked after a fishing trip when it caught fire, causing two billion dong in damages on the morning of March 6th.

At about 8am, Mr. Nguyen Thanh's fishing boat (in Binh Hai commune, Binh Son district) reached the shore of Phuoc Thien village after a night of fishing about 10-20 nautical miles from shore.

As the crew members were about to reach shore, a fire suddenly broke out in the cabin. Crew members and dozens of people from nearby ships climbed onto the stern of the ship and scooped up seawater to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful.

Dung Quat Port Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Team and Binh Hai Border Guard Station mobilized many vehicles and water hoses to coordinate with local forces to put out the fire. However, strong winds made it difficult to put out the fire.

By around 11am, the fire was under control. There were no casualties, but the fishing boat was completely burned down, causing about 2 billion VND in damage. The cause is under investigation.
