Vietnam's Glory 2023 - Professor Dr. Le Van Quang - Director of the National Cancer Hospital, is always striving to create breakthroughs to elevate the hospital to a leading position and make a significant contribution to the national investment and development strategy in accordance with the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam .
First Vietnamese doctor performs endoscopic thyroidectomy through the mouth.
Before taking on management roles, Professor Quang dedicated much of his time to medical practice, specializing in surgical oncology.
As a treating physician, he always strives to apply new and advanced techniques to improve the quality of treatment for patients. A prime example is endoscopic thyroidectomy through the oral route.
"This technique offers maximum benefits for patients undergoing thyroidectomy, such as achieving the best aesthetic results (absolutely no surgical scars), safety, effectiveness, and a short hospital stay," shared Professor Le Van Quang.
More notably, this technique has received international recognition, and to date, Professor Le Van Quang has published 20 in-depth articles on transoral thyroidectomy in prestigious international journals. Furthermore, he was invited to present on this technique at the 2023 World Head and Neck Surgery Conference in Rome, Italy.
He has successfully supervised 5 PhDs, 5 Level II Specialists, and 15 resident doctors. He has authored and compiled 11 textbooks and monographs in the field of oncology, including two monographs on thyroid cancer and oral cancer, helping to train undergraduate and postgraduate students to provide a sufficient supply of quality human resources for the cancer prevention network in Vietnam. He is also the principal investigator of one state-level research project and one state-level sub-project that have been completed; he has published nearly 200 scientific articles, including 45 prestigious international publications.
