36 units criticized for slow road maintenance.

According to information from the Vietnam Road Administration, the agency has just criticized two Road Management Zones and 34 Departments of Construction for the slow implementation of the 2025 road maintenance plan.

The Vietnam Road Administration reports that the progress of the 2025 national highway maintenance plan has not met expectations. Currently, 97 out of 201 projects with two-stage design have not had their construction drawings approved, and 341 out of 394 projects have not completed the contractor selection process. Disbursement remains very low, estimated at only 4.64% of the allocated budget by March 31st.

In response to this situation, the Vietnam Road Administration has criticized the units that have been slow in completing road maintenance work, and at the same time requested the investors and project management boards to decisively direct the acceleration of the implementation of the national highway system maintenance plan for 2025.

Road maintenance needs to be expedited to ensure the safety of people traveling on the roads.

Specifically, the Vietnam Road Administration criticized two Road Management Zones and 34 Construction Departments, including: Road Management Zones I and II, Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, An Giang , and Tay Ninh.

In addition to criticism, the Vietnam Road Administration also requested units to focus on urging the completion of construction packages, accelerating progress, and promptly carrying out acceptance and payment for completed work; urgently complete the preparation and approval of economic and technical reports for projects supplementing the 2025 national highway system maintenance plan before May 30th to adjust and supplement the 2025 maintenance plan and expenditure estimates as a basis for implementation. Strictly update data on the disbursement software as required by the Vietnam Road Administration. The Vietnam Road Administration will consider taking disciplinary action against investors, project management boards, agencies, units, and individuals involved in the delayed implementation of the 2025 maintenance plan.
