42 teams have tickets to the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 World Cup qualifiers have entered the final stages with 42 of the 48 teams officially having secured tickets to the tournament taking place in the US, Canada and Mexico next summer.

The final 6 tickets to the 2026 World Cup will be determined through the European (4) and intercontinental (2) play-offs in March 2026.

The three host countries Mexico, the US, and Canada are obviously present. Asia witnessed a vibrant picture with a series of strong representatives such as Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, Qatar, and three prominent faces Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. In particular, Uzbekistan and Jordan made a milestone in their first World Cup participation.

In Africa, 9 direct spots belong to familiar and surprising names including Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, South Africa, Ghana and the phenomenon Cape Verde. Notably, Cape Verde also made history when it appeared for the first time.

CONCACAF also confirmed two new faces in Panama and Haiti, in addition to the miracle story of Curacao, who became the smallest team to qualify for the World Cup with a population of just 150,000.
