The three host nations, Mexico, the USA, and Canada, are obviously included. Asia presents a vibrant picture with a series of strong representatives such as Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, Qatar, along with three prominent contenders: Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. Notably, Uzbekistan and Jordan mark their first-ever participation in the World Cup.
In Africa, the nine direct qualification spots went to both familiar and surprising names: Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, South Africa, Ghana, and the phenomenon Cape Verde. Notably, Cape Verde also made history with its first appearance.
The CONCACAF region also identified two new contenders, Panama and Haiti, alongside the miraculous story of Curacao. They became the smallest team to qualify for the World Cup, with a population of just 150,000 people.
South America continues to assert its dominance with six prestigious representatives: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Ecuador, and Paraguay. All of them secured their places early after a highly competitive CONMEBOL qualifying campaign.
Europe, with 16 spots available, has already secured 12 spots thanks to group winners: Spain, France, England, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, and Scotland. The remaining four spots will be determined in the play-off round in March 2026.
The final six tickets – including four from Europe and two from the intercontinental play-offs – will complete the picture of the 48 teams participating in the 2026 World Cup.
