During nearly a month of intensified implementation of directives from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance on preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, Anti-Smuggling Control Team No. 1 (Anti-Smuggling Investigation Sub-Department, Customs Department) inspected and seized 21 cases of violations.

Notably, on June 17th, the forces of Team 1, in coordination with the Customs at Tra Linh International Border Gate ( Cao Bang province) - Customs Sub-department Region VI, inspected a container of goods from China, declared as consumer goods weighing over 24 tons.

During the inspection, authorities discovered numerous undeclared goods, including 450 suspected counterfeit Rolex watches, along with general merchandise such as cosmetics, lighters, power banks, bras, and car lights.

At the time of inspection, the business failed to present documents related to intellectual property. Customs authorities, in coordination with representatives of the rights holder, took samples for testing and initially determined that all the watches were counterfeit. The rights holder's representative stated that if they were genuine, the shipment would be worth approximately 45 billion VND. The case is still under investigation.

Previously, from June 1st to June 15th, Team 1 also detected and handled four other violations at the Tra Linh international border gate area. The seized items included more than 5,700 counterfeit clothing, bags, and sports shoes bearing famous brands such as Tommy, Celine, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, Adidas, and New Balance.

Among these were over 700 pairs of counterfeit Adidas and New Balance shoes, also falsely claiming to be made in Vietnam – a serious violation of both trademark and origin regulations.

All incidents are being further investigated and clarified by the relevant authorities in order to be handled according to the law.

Recently, the Customs Department also reported that the Customs at Noi Bai International Airport had detected a passenger illegally transporting goods and currency across the border.

The incident was discovered during an intensified effort to control and combat smuggling and illegal transportation of goods and foreign currency.

Specifically, at 10:20 PM on June 8th, during the process of handling departure procedures for passengers on flight VN310 from Noi Bai to Narita (Japan), the Export Baggage Procedures Team of Noi Bai International Airport Customs detected passenger Nguyen Huu Lam exhibiting suspicious behavior.

During a baggage screening and direct inspection, customs officers discovered an envelope inside a suitcase containing a large quantity of banknotes suspected to be foreign currency.

Initial inspections revealed 690 banknotes, each with a face value of 10,000 Japanese Yen, concealed in carry-on luggage without being declared to customs and without the required legal documentation.

The customs agency stated that the case has been initiated by the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency, which has issued a decision to prosecute Nguyen Huu Lam for the crime of illegally transporting goods and currency across the border.
