70 patients received free eye surgery

Cam My District Medical Center has just coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital, Cam My District People's Committee, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade, Medical Equipment and Biological Materials Factory Joint Stock Company to successfully organize the Artificial Cataract Surgery Program.

During the program, more than 70 cataract patients from difficult circumstances received free surgery, helping their eyes to shine again, bringing faith and hope to the patients and their families.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Ha, Deputy Director of Cam My District Medical Center, said that cataracts (dry cataracts, stone cataracts) are a common disease in the elderly due to the aging process. When suffering from this disease, the patient's vision will gradually decrease and if not treated promptly, it can lead to blindness. Phacoemulsification surgery is the most effective solution to restore vision for patients. However, due to difficult economic conditions, many patients do not receive timely treatment, leading to the disease becoming more severe or dangerous complications.

In the coming time, the center will continue to coordinate with units and sponsors to implement many programs and activities to help poor patients, contributing to improving community health.
