According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple's distributors will begin mass production of the next generation of AirTags starting in Q4 2024. More than three years ago, the first AirTag was launched with a retail price of $29.
Mr. Kuo revealed that the new AirTag will be compatible with Apple's recently introduced Vision Pro glasses, integrating as part of the company's space computing ecosystem. However, the expert did not provide details about the new device or the features that will appear on Apple's positioning product line.
AirTag is attracting attention because of its ability to provide fairly accurate real-time location tracking.
The AirTag currently on the market is equipped with Apple's own U1 chip, supporting precise location tracking to where the device is placed. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously revealed that the iPhone 15 series will also upgrade to the Ultra Wideband chip, a move that has led experts to believe Apple will upgrade the chip to the U2 generation in both the new iPhone and AirTag.
With over a year remaining until the second-generation AirTag enters mass production, detailed leaks about the product are likely to continue appearing in the coming months.
In Vietnam, AirTag is being sold by authorized dealers (AAR) at prices ranging from 690,000 to 790,000 VND per tag, or a set of four for approximately 2.5 million VND – a considerable price for a device whose only function is to locate belongings when attached.
