The "Trade Union Meal" program for 2025 will be widely implemented at grassroots trade unions throughout Phu Tho province. According to the plan, the program will run from July 20th to September 2nd, 2025. Each meal will have an additional value from trade union funds, up to a maximum of 50,000 VND per person, not including other social mobilization sources. This is not a large sum, but it represents practical concern for workers.
At midday in July, in the canteen of Optrontec Vina Co., Ltd., Ba Thien II Industrial Park, Binh Nguyen commune, nearly 3,500 workers sat in rows of tables, shaking hands, exchanging greetings, and chatting merrily. The atmosphere at that meal was completely different from usual. Beside the well-prepared meal, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham said emotionally, “Seeing this well-prepared meal truly warms our hearts. Not only because it tastes better, but also because we feel genuinely cared for.”

Next to him, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay recounted that this was the first time in his three years working at the industrial park that he had attended such a warm and welcoming communal meal. “The atmosphere today was as joyful as a festival. Usually, workers just focus on finishing their meal so they can get back to their production lines; they're too tired to chat. But today, with company leaders, union officials coming to greet and congratulate us, and even colleagues from other workshops eating together, it suddenly felt very close.”
Continuing this series of activities, the lunch on July 28th at CNCTech Group Joint Stock Company, Thang Long Industrial Park, Vinh Phuc (Binh Nguyen commune) was equally lively. The atmosphere was like a large reunion, with workers from different workshops sitting together at the same table, chatting animatedly. Those who usually only knew each other through a quick nod in the hallway were now enthusiastically asking about each other, sharing about work, their hometowns, and their plans for Tet (Lunar New Year) – perhaps even traveling together on the same bus.

Mr. Tran Van Hung, a worker in the precision mechanics workshop, smiled brightly: "I never imagined that just one meal could make me feel so much more connected to the company. Some guys from the technical department, who I didn't interact with much before, were now sitting at the same table and chatting animatedly. We even made plans to play a friendly football match this weekend."
At each of these meals, there's no need for lengthy speeches or grandiose slogans. Just a few sincere words of inquiry from union officials, the presence of company representatives, and grateful glances from the workers are enough to create a warm and humane atmosphere.

While a simple meal cannot solve all the daily hardships of workers, it is in that humble moment that feelings and sharing are amplified, becoming an invisible bond connecting workers and businesses, and the trade union with the employees. The "Trade Union Meal" has spread a clear message: Workers are not alone in their struggle for survival; the trade union is always there to support, listen to, and care for them.

The leader of the Phu Tho Provincial Labor Union stated: “We believe this is not just a formality, but a genuine opportunity to care for workers in the most practical ways. Through these meals, grassroots labor unions have the chance to understand the thoughts and aspirations of their members, building trust among them. Furthermore, it motivates businesses to pay more attention to the quality of meals and the welfare of their workers.”
By the end of August, hundreds of grassroots trade unions in Phu Tho province are expected to organize "Trade Union Meals," benefiting tens of thousands of workers. While the scale varies from place to place, the biggest commonality is the strong sense of belonging – something increasingly valuable in a volatile labor market where workers need a solid support system more than ever.
With these meanings, the "Trade Union Meal" continues to be a beautiful and vibrant image of companionship, understanding, and the spread of social responsibility. From a simple meal filled with love, it strengthens workers' trust in the trade union organization, in the sustainability of the enterprise, and in the prosperous development of the country in the new era.
