One day at the end of July, a delegation of officers and soldiers from the Da Nang City Military Command, along with youth union members from Hoi An Tay ward, made a moving visit to the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers living in the area. The visit was carried out within the framework of the "Homecoming Day" program, commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27th).

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hong, Deputy Head of Political Affairs , Da Nang City Military Command, said that the highlight of the program is the visit and gift-giving to express gratitude to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers currently living in the locality, including Mother Truong Thi Mien (Tra Que village), Nguyen Thi Lieu (Bau Oc village), Nguyen Thi Ky (Dong Na village), and Nguyen Thi Nuot (Bau Sung village).

Standing before the mothers, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hong, on behalf of the delegation, bowed in gratitude, expressing profound appreciation for the immense sacrifices made by the mothers and their families for the cause of national liberation and reunification.

“The sacrifices of our mothers are a noble symbol of revolutionary heroism. They are also the motivation for today's generation to continue striving in their studies, training, and work, contributing to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland,” Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hong said emotionally.

The highlight of this year's program was the gratitude meal held at the home of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lieu in Bau Oc village. The meal was meticulously prepared by the officers, soldiers, and youth union members themselves. Although the dishes were simple and familiar to everyday life, they were imbued with heartfelt affection, creating a warm atmosphere like a family reunion.

In the small house, the members of the delegation gathered around the mother, sharing a meal, chatting, and recalling poignant memories of her beloved sons who had perished on the battlefield. The meal served as a precious source of emotional support, helping to alleviate the mothers' grief and hardship.

Captain Vo Van Thanh, Assistant for Mass Mobilization (Political Department, Da Nang City Military Command), shared that the gratitude meal acts as a bridge, connecting today's young generations to the immeasurable losses of the past. It is not only an act of gratitude, but also a continuation of morality, spirit, and civic responsibility towards the nation's history.

“There are things that cannot be fully expressed in words. Sitting beside my mother, we young soldiers understand more clearly why we must live decent lives and dedicate ourselves to service. Because she once lost her own child so that we could have what we have today,” Captain Vo Van Thanh shared.

Mr. Nguyen Ha Vi, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoi An Tay Ward and also the Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, said that through this program, the local authorities hope that these meaningful activities will help the younger generation better understand and appreciate historical values, foster love for their homeland and country, and become more responsible towards the community and society.

“A meaningful program concludes with many emotions. More than just the name of a program, “The Day My Child Returns” is a journey of homecoming in its truest sense: a return to one's roots, to one's mother, to one's history, and an education of noble ideals for the younger generation – those who will continue to preserve, protect, and build the country…”, Mr. Vi emphasized.
