Amorim controversy

Even though MU beat Wolves 4-1 in the early morning of December 9, coach Ruben Amorim still became the center of controversy with confusing decisions.

Amorim has given few opportunities to young players this season.

The match at Molineux Stadium in the 15th round of the Premier League took place with a quite favorable scenario for the away team. The result helped the "Red Devils" rise to 6th place with 25 points, equal to Chelsea's points and only 1 point behind 4th place Crystal Palace.

However, the post-match atmosphere was not entirely positive. Some fans criticised Amorim for their use of personnel, believing that Kobbie Mainoo should have been brought on earlier instead of appearing with 12 minutes left. Mainoo is being watched by many big European clubs and has not started a Premier League game this season.

Another stream of opinion focused on Shea Lacey, the 18-year-old talent who has been on the registration list four times in a row but has yet to make his debut for the first team. Fans expressed confusion when MU led 4-1 at the end of the match but Amorim prioritized experienced faces like Lisandro Martinez, Zirkzee or Yoro instead of giving Lacey a chance.

Many comments on social media said that the delay in giving opportunities to young players will cause MU to have trouble when Mbeumo and Amad are absent because of CAN. "You can't ask a young player to play maturely if you don't give him any minutes" is the common reaction of MU fans.

MU will return to Old Trafford to host Bournemouth on December 16.
