On the Cai Be River, salinity of 4 parts per thousand penetrates approximately 10-13km inland (Binh An commune). Salinity of 1 part per thousand penetrates approximately 15-17km inland (Binh An commune). On the Cai Lon River, salinity of 4 parts per thousand penetrates approximately 15-18km inland (Dinh Hoa commune); salinity of 1 part per thousand penetrates approximately 28-30km inland (Dinh Hoa commune). On the Cai San Canal, salinity of 4 parts per thousand penetrates approximately 6km inland (from Ba Lich estuary); salinity of 1 part per thousand penetrates as far as Cai San bridge (Thanh Loc commune).
The level of natural disaster risk warning due to saltwater intrusion in the Cai Lon River is level 1.
Due to saltwater intrusion, salinity levels of 4 parts per thousand have penetrated deep into the inland areas of the Cai Lon, Cai Be rivers and Cai San canal in the early morning, potentially affecting crops. Authorities advise people not to use bottom water during high tide; it is necessary to check salinity levels before using river and canal water for production and daily life.
