- A home for our compatriots to settle down in.
- Settling down to thrive
- Helping people establish livelihoods after settling down.
Immediately after the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee issued Notice No. 1085-TB/TU dated March 28, 2025, calling on and mobilizing Party members to support the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department promptly sent a document to district and city Party committees, Party committees directly under the Provincial Party Committee, and provincial departments, agencies, and organizations regarding the continued promotion of propaganda and thorough understanding among cadres and Party members, considering this a crucial political task. Accordingly, Party members have made many effective and practical contributions to the implementation of the program.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan (third from the left) inspects the program to eliminate temporary housing in U Minh district (afternoon of May 7, 2025).
For example, Party members in the province voluntarily contributed one day's salary, providing additional resources to improve the quality of housing for households. Leading the way were two units: the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and the Provincial Police Party Committee, with a total donation of over 1.2 billion VND. Mr. Ho Trung Viet, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, said: “The fundraising has been implemented by local Party members with a high sense of responsibility and mutual support. Party members emphasized the principle of contributing whatever they can, aiming to increase the value of the houses provided to the people. In addition to the stipulated funds, we mobilized additional resources ranging from 5-10 million VND per case to build toilets, creating more living amenities for the households. Simultaneously, Party members were also mobilized to contribute labor to help people reduce construction costs and provide additional practical household items.”
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province has implemented many specific solutions to mobilize Party members, especially at the grassroots level, to actively participate in the movement to eliminate temporary housing. Party members are not only implementers but also a force for disseminating information and mobilizing people, businesses, and philanthropists to join this effort. Following the motto "Party members lead the way, the people follow," many local Party branches and organizations have mobilized the people's strength through the prestige and sense of responsibility of their members. Many retired officials and senior Party members have even volunteered to connect with benefactors and mobilize social resources. These decisive actions have created a strong ripple effect.
Mr. Le Thanh Trieu, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said: “Through political activities and public meetings, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, in coordination with member organizations, has integrated the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on supporting people to stabilize their housing. In addition, campaigns such as: “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas”, “Day for the poor”, “Party members help people escape poverty”... have been widely implemented. As a result, almost all Party members in localities throughout the province have voluntarily contributed money, labor, and construction materials to support the government in helping poor households build new houses.”
At the conference summarizing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Ca Mau City provided support to 8 districts in the province, with each district receiving one house worth 60 million VND.
One of the Party members who demonstrated a sense of responsibility and provided practical support to the people is Mr. Le Hong Khanh, Head of My Dong Hamlet, Tran Thoi Commune, Cai Nuoc District. Through his work, he understood the circumstances of each resident in the hamlet. Sharing the plight of the impoverished and landless families of Ms. Vo Thi Tham (70 years old) and Ms. Diep Thi Hong Le (68 years old), Mr. Khanh discussed with the families and lent them over 160 square meters of land to build houses under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Thanks to this, the two particularly disadvantaged families in the hamlet now have homes and stable lives.
Receiving assistance from Mr. Le Hong Khanh, Ms. Do Thi My Thoa (daughter of Ms. Vo Thi Tham) emotionally shared: “When the government provided 65 million VND to build a house, I was very happy because my mother would have a place to live, but the difficulty was not having land to build on. Fortunately, Mr. Khanh lent us land to live on long-term, for about 20-30 years. My whole family and I are grateful to Mr. Khanh. He treats us like family. With such help, I am even more determined to work hard.”
The entire Ca Mau province currently has over 50,000 Party members, with an average donation of one day's salary, along with many practical actions that have significantly contributed to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. Thanks to the support of Party members and people from all walks of life, hundreds of temporary and dilapidated houses in districts such as Tran Van Thoi, U Minh, and Dam Doi... have been replaced with sturdy, solid houses, giving many disadvantaged families more confidence and motivation to rise out of poverty sustainably.
