The pressure of being an actor in a blockbuster film.

Many young actors gain recognition from audiences thanks to their participation in high-grossing film projects. However, along with that outstanding achievement, they face many challenges in finding their direction or breaking through after achieving the title of "100 billion VND actor."

Motivation comes with pressure.

In recent years, the Vietnamese film market has seen many projects reach the 100 billion VND mark in revenue. The success of these works not only brings financial benefits to the producers but also opens up great opportunities for young actors to participate in films. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the hype surrounding films like "The Four Venomous Men," "Billion-Dollar Kiss," "Red Rain," "Battle in the Air, " etc., has helped names like Quoc Anh, Tieu Vy, Doan Thien An, Ma Ran Do, Le Xuan Tien, Dinh Khang, Do Nhat Hoang, Tram Anh, Tran Ngoc Vang, etc., gain attention and have many advantages for career development.

The title "100 billion VND actor" is affectionately bestowed by many viewers upon young actors who have the opportunity to participate in high-grossing films. However, for many actors, this designation also adds extra pressure to their profession.

Tin Nguyen, an actress who has made a mark with audiences through films like "Flip Face 7: One Wish" and "Detective Kien: The Headless Case ," when participating in the film " Breaking Up Mom's Birthday, " confided about the title "100 Billion Dollar Actress," saying: "People calling me that is a compliment, but I'm very afraid of this title. I find it very heavy because I only contributed a small part, like a grain of sand in the desert, to create the work."

Although not overly pressured by titles and accolades, Uyển Ân always sets her own principles for her work. According to her, once you accept a role, you must be responsible and give it your all. "If you agree to participate but do it halfheartedly, that's an irresponsible actor. If you put your heart into a role but the result isn't what you hoped for, it's because you're not good enough yet. But if the result is what you hoped for, that's absolutely wonderful," Uyển Ân shared.

In 2025, Quoc Anh participated in two films that surpassed the 100 billion VND mark: "The Four Venomous Men" and "Detective Kien: The Headless Case ." This achievement is a stroke of luck for the 9X generation actor. From here, he has more motivation to break through on the big screen. But beyond the fame, what Quoc Anh cherishes most is learning about the profession through each film. From there, he realizes his limitations and wants to challenge himself with more complex psychological roles.

COMPETITION IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY FIERCE

As more and more new talents emerge in the film market, competition intensifies. Having appeared in a blockbuster film is considered an advantage for young actors seeking new opportunities. As their names become more well-known to audiences, more doors open with diverse roles, allowing actors to showcase and prove their abilities.

However, finding direction or choosing projects to participate in is also a challenge for young actors. In reality, many actors have achieved breakthroughs and made significant strides in their careers after just one film project. Conversely, many young people struggle to find the right path for themselves.

After her success as Tra Long in "Eye of the Beholder ," Do Khanh Van also appeared in "B4S - Before Love" and "The Most Beautiful Summer ." However, these projects haven't helped her establish her abilities. Similarly, actress Truc Anh has also tried her hand at several projects but hasn't made as much of an impression on audiences as her role as Ha Lan in "Eye of the Beholder ."

Based on his own experience, Tuan Tran – an actor in the hit series "The Godfather," "Mai," "Making Money with Ghosts, " etc. – shared his perspective: "I always have my own pressure, not just after having won awards and achieved success. A huge pressure I put on myself is that with any role I take on, I think that if I don't try hard or reinvent myself, I'll easily fall behind. I respect the audience's feelings, so I give my all to each role, as if it were my last chance."

Following the success of "Battle in the Air ," Tram Anh affirmed that she wouldn't allow herself to rest. She sees this as a favorable start to continue conquering new heights, especially in the field of cinema. "Currently, I don't feel any pressure at all. In the near future, I really crave a role as a true action heroine, a really cool one on screen," Tram Anh shared.

When discussing the casting process for the film, director Khuong Ngoc stated: "The primary factor is suitability for the role. I also consider their previous projects, but the goal is to explore new and unique aspects of the character and the project, rather than focusing solely on whether they are top-tier actors." Success in previous roles gives young actors an advantage in the competition and in seeking opportunities, but it's not the deciding factor in whether they get chosen. In reality, suitability for the character and acting ability are what truly matter. Therefore, for actors, honing their skills is essential, rather than resting on their laurels.
