According to The Verge , the latest Power On report from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman indicates that the next-generation iPad Air will feature the Apple M2 chip. Previously, reports suggested the next-generation iPad Air would offer two screen size options: 11 inches and 12.9 inches.

One of the other ways Apple is reportedly working to simplify its iPad lineup is by eliminating the ninth-generation iPad model, which was replaced by the more expensive tenth-generation iPad last year. Gurman stated that March 2024 is when Apple will launch new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Air models, meaning the company's mid-range products will remain on a two-year upgrade cycle. According to Gurman, the iPad Air will come with the M2 chip, while the iPad Pro will come with the newer and more powerful M3 chip. The latter option means the iPad Pro could become a laptop replacement for more demanding and computationally intensive tasks.

According to Gurman, the new 12.9-inch iPad Air will also work with the Magic Keyboard, just like the current iPad Pro. If that's accurate, it would make sense for Apple to equip the next iPad Air models with the same camera array as the iPad Pro.
