On the morning of January 25th, the inauguration ceremony of the Que O village communal house took place solemnly and joyfully at Que O village communal house, Chi Lang commune, Bac Ninh province.
The ceremony was attended and supported by local authorities at all levels, as well as a large number of people from within and outside the village.
According to tradition, the village temple of Quế Ổ dates back to ancient times. During the reign of King Lê Thái Tổ, the royal court issued a decree to renovate the temple and shrine, allowing for the worship and the full recording of information related to the birth and death dates, customs, and the taboo name "KỲ". The decree also approved the Quế Ổ settlement to worship Lê Kỳ Đại Vương as the village's guardian deity.
The Quế Ổ village communal house still preserves nine royal decrees from various dynasties, fully documented in ancient records. The merits of Lord Lê Kỳ Đại Vương, the village's patron deity, who repelled foreign invaders and protected the borders, are clearly evidenced through the artifacts and documents copied and preserved at the communal house.
Throughout history, the people of Que O village have maintained the worship of Le Ky Dai Vuong.
However, in 1949, amidst the French colonial occupation of Northern Vietnam, in response to President Ho Chi Minh 's call for nationwide resistance and scorched-earth tactics, the Que O village communal house was dismantled.
Driven by the longing and desire of generations of local people to restore the ancient communal house, the reconstruction of the village temple has become a shared aspiration of the community in recent years. In 2023, the local leadership mobilized the people, those living away from home, and especially the families and descendants of Mr. Hong and Mr. Vinh (Hamlet 5) to contribute and gradually restore the village temple.
In 2024, with strong consensus from the people and authorities at all levels, the project to rebuild the Que O village communal house officially commenced.
After a period of construction, the communal house was completed, becoming an important cultural and spiritual space, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional values of the Northern Vietnamese countryside.
The inauguration ceremony of Que O village communal house is not only an important milestone in the cultural and spiritual life of the local people, but also demonstrates the continuation of the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source," honoring history and national cultural identity.
