Besides selling at home, I also do itinerant work, wherever there are festivals, my sisters and I will set up a booth, both displaying the cakes and selling them on the spot to customers.”

Like rice cakes, cereal cakes are long bars, cut into pieces of about 1 meter, then rolled into a circle, packaged in different weights. The ingredients to make the cake are 5 types of flour mixed with white sugar, then this mixture is put into a cake making machine with an iron mold, taking about 15-20 minutes to produce the finished product, a crispy, fragrant cake.

“The important thing when making this cake is to mix the ingredients evenly so that the cake is not too sweet when it comes out of the oven, and to monitor the heat of the machine so that the cake is just cooked and crispy and spongy. This dish is loved by many people because it is fun to eat, and older people like to combine it with hot tea for a better taste,” said Mr. Tan.
