Typhoon No. 1 is about to form.

The tropical depression in the South China Sea is forecast to strengthen into typhoon number 1 within the next 24 hours.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of 1 PM on July 1st, the center of the tropical depression was located at approximately 14.6 degrees North latitude and 117.4 degrees East longitude, in the northeastern part of the central South China Sea.

The strongest winds in the area near the center of the tropical depression reached level 6 (39-49 km/h), with gusts up to level 8, and it is moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of about 15-20 km/h.

Forecasts indicate that over the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will maintain its direction and speed of movement. By 13:00 on July 2nd, the center of the tropical depression will be located in the southern part of the North East Sea, approximately 290km east-southeast of the Hoang Sa Special Administrative Region, and has the potential to strengthen into Typhoon No. 1. At that time, the typhoon's intensity will reach level 8, with gusts up to level 10.

Meteorological experts predict that, based on current forecasts, there is approximately a 70% chance the storm will move into the Gulf of Tonkin and directly affect the northeastern coastal region of Vietnam on July 4th.

Warning: Due to the influence of a tropical depression and the possibility of it strengthening into a storm, the eastern sea area of ​​the northern and central South China Sea (including the Hoang Sa Special Administrative Region) will experience strong winds of level 6, later increasing to level 7, with gusts of level 9-10; sea waves will be 2-3m high, and 3-4m high in the area near the center of the tropical depression, with rough seas.
