The Serepok Protective Forest Management Board is the unit with the largest assigned protective forest area in the province, with nearly 61,000 hectares. It also currently has a significant area of forest bordering Dak Lak province, stretching across many sub-areas for approximately 120km.
Furthermore, the unit's management area borders other Forest Protection Management Boards in the province, such as Lam Ha, Da Nhim, Lam Vien, and Bi Duop - Nui Ba National Park, and Ta Dung National Park. This also creates many challenges in the unit's management and protection work.
These days, the Serepok Forest Management Board has to mobilize almost all of its forces to participate in patrolling and managing forest protection. The key personnel are stationed at 10 forest protection management stations in the three communes of Dam Rong 2, Dam Rong 3, and Dam Rong 4, along with 730 households contracted to protect the forest.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Man, Head of the Serepok Forest Protection Management Board, said: "To effectively manage and protect the forest before, during, and after the National Day holiday on September 2nd, the unit has proactively developed an implementation plan. In particular, the unit has paid special attention to border forest areas and areas at risk of deforestation and encroachment on forest land."
Specifically, the Serepok Forest Management Board organized a force including officials and contracted personnel to be on duty 24/7 at the station. This allowed them to promptly monitor violations in their managed area and immediately prevent acts of deforestation and encroachment on forest land. This activity also helped prevent individuals from taking advantage of the long holiday period to commit violations of the law.

Thanks to effective forest management and protection, from December 10, 2024 to August 20, 2025, only 3 cases of deforestation occurred in the managed area, with a total damaged area of 4,137 m² and no loss of timber volume.
Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of violations decreased by 5 cases (62.5%), the area decreased by 85.98%, and the volume of forest products decreased by 100%.
In addition, since the beginning of the year, the unit has detected and documented 8 cases/8 individuals involved in encroachment and destruction of land, covering an area of 2,316 m² . All violations have been documented and transferred to relevant authorities for processing according to regulations.
At the same time, direct strict management of the violation sites, preventing the perpetrators from planting agricultural crops and restoring the forest using appropriate methods.

Regarding coordination, the forest management and protection forces in the border areas under the Serepok Forest Management Board ( Lam Dong ) and the Lak Forest Management Board (Dak Lak) continue to effectively carry out patrols, share information, and support the prevention and timely handling of violations.
In fact, previous years have shown that holidays and festivals are always opportune times for those who destroy forests or take advantage of the situation to illegally exploit timber, hunt wild animals, and encroach on land.
To minimize the aforementioned violations, just before the September 2nd holiday, dozens of officers from the Serepok Forest Management Board and stations under the Lak Forest Management Board conducted numerous patrols in the border forest area, mainly separated between the two localities by the Krong No River.

At the same time, effective meetings and outreach should be conducted with people living in border areas to raise their awareness of the importance of forests and encourage their participation in forest protection.
“We are coordinating with forces in neighboring provinces to carry out propaganda work through various forms to raise public awareness and responsibility. The unit is also strengthening the collection of information provided by the people to develop solutions for monitoring and promptly preventing nascent acts, ensuring that the managed and protected area does not experience hotspots or complex violations,” said the leader of the Serepok Forest Protection Management Board.
The province currently has 1,149,609 hectares of forest land. The forest cover area is 1,132,111 hectares, with a forest cover rate of 46.72%. The entire forest area is managed by 16 forestry companies; 3 Nature Reserve Management Boards; 22 Forest Management Boards; 4 National Parks: Ta Dung, Bidoup Nui Ba, Cat Tien, Nui Chua; and a number of other organizations, businesses, and units.
To effectively manage and protect forests before, during, and after the National Day holiday on September 2nd, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requests relevant units to organize forces and strengthen patrols and inspections to protect forests.
The units responsible for ensuring the presence of personnel will promptly detect and report any violations to local authorities and relevant agencies, minimizing damage to forests during the holiday period.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province is tasked with directing forest rangers, forest management boards, and forest owner units to strengthen patrols, checkpoints, and inspections to protect forests. These forces will focus on areas at high risk of deforestation, encroachment on forest land, and illegal logging.
