(NLĐO) - After a sharp decline, gold prices surged today as the world turned its attention to Donald Trump's inauguration as President of the United States.
Today, the price of gold in the world market has reached $2,708 per ounce.
The euro and the British pound have appreciated against the US dollar, pushing both currencies toward their biggest daily gains against the dollar in over a year. This is due to reports that newly elected President Donald Trump will not impose tariffs on US trading partners on his first day in office.
On the other hand, analysts believe that the import tariffs that Donald Trump plans to impose are being exaggerated. Consequently, the US dollar may continue to depreciate in the near future, which would benefit the gold market.
Due to the depreciation of the USD, gold has become more attractive to holders of other currencies. Meanwhile, traders expect gold prices to rise even further in the future.
Therefore, during last night's trading session - when the price of gold fell to around $2,682 per ounce - many people increased their buying activity. Immediately, the price of gold in the world today rose sharply and by 6 AM on January 21st reached $2,708 per ounce.
Earlier, in Vietnam, the price of SJC gold at the end of January 20th was 86.9 million VND/ounce, as sold by banks. SJC Company sold gold rings at 86.3 million VND/ounce.
