Hard times are not far away
"From having to go abroad to make a living, now right on the old land, people have a stable income, many households are well off." Confiding over a cup of coffee on the morning of the Year of the Dragon by Secretary of the Party Committee of Ia Toi Commune Le Van Trung surprised a new visitor...
Ia Toi commune was established at the end of 2013 with mostly ethnic minorities from the Northern provinces settling in. The commune has about 9,5 km of border with Cambodia. In a not so distant time, when mentioning this land, people immediately thought of poverty; All year round people have to struggle to find food and clothing, but poverty persists; I keep wandering around the fields, farming season after season, trying to make a living, but the poverty cannot end.
Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Lo Thi Sai commune confided that many people in the difficult land of Ia Toi still have memories of the years of survival worrying about food to make ends meet, and they shudder to remember the time when they crossed the mountains and valleys up and down. earn a living and spend days struggling with harsh nature, scorching sun, heavy rain...
Keeping pace with the flow of innovation, especially after more than three years of implementing the Resolution of the 3rd Commune Party Congress, the leadership team of this border land has thought ahead and thought later, closely following the direction of the district and province. , applying practice to find directions and methods with determination, overcoming difficulties to build and rebuild the homeland.
The result of dedication and unanimous effort
Those who came to Ia Toi a few years ago and now have the opportunity to return can easily see the rapid and comprehensive change in the climatically harsh land located in the southwest of Kon Tum province. The most impressive thing is economic growth, connected infrastructure, and flourishing rural areas. The Party Committee and political system know how to create, be flexible, and turn potential resources into development resources; Clear and remove "blockages" and knots, move forward in a steady and confident position.
Secretary of the Party Committee of Ia Toi commune Le Van Trung was originally quiet and reserved, but when he was prompted about the steps, the local way of doing things became excited and vibrant. He affirmed: "Even though there are certain obstacles on the way forward, the Party Committee, government, and people of Ia Toi ethnic groups do not accept poverty, are proactive, creative, unite the community, and unite." When encountering obstacles, we know how to overcome them. When we encounter difficulties, we can share and protect them." Therefore, in times of hardship, the Tay, Thai, Nung, Kinh... from all over came to settle down on the Se San River, holding hands, rallying their teams, looking in the same direction, building a new life. .
From the beginning of his term until now, Ia Toi has shown the spirit and ability to be proactive, positive, determined, dare to break through, dare to do, reap positive and substantive values, take steady steps along the way. path of development and integration. The achievements achieved in recent times have a strong impression on the role of the Party Executive Committee, key leaders in innovating thinking, determining vision from policy to action, cultivating and nurturing the spirit of the Party. According to Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Le Van Binh, the commune's economy maintains a good growth rate, especially new rural construction is implemented drastically and synchronously. By the end of 2023, 16/19 criteria will be achieved, additional Village 9 will meet new rural village standards ahead of schedule, and Ia Dr village will meet two more criteria. The poverty reduction rate exceeds the target with 12,7%, down 15,48% compared to 2022; Near-poor households are down to 10,79%, down 10,35% compared to 2022. Education, healthcare, culture, and sports have achieved many achievements, ensuring the people's needs.
About Ia Toi today, from villages 1, 7, 8, 9 to Ia Dr, from the villages to the resettlement areas, all stretches out in the green of rubber, coffee, and vast, deep green fruit trees; Everywhere we can see a land that is rising, full of promise. Those achievements are built with hands, brains, and enthusiasm, reaching out unceasingly.
In order to promote growth, Ia Toi mobilizes all resources to develop 10.700 hectares of rubber, coffee, cashew, pepper, and fruit trees; 423 hectares of rice, wheat, squash, corn and over 15.000 cattle and poultry; Creating many effective livestock models, increasing people's income such as raising cows, goats, hybrid wild boar, and fish in cages on Se San lake. At the same time, focus on developing models of affiliated groups, cooperative groups and cooperatives with a cassava starch processing factory, two cooperatives and over 70 active production, trading and service households. effective movement. If in 2015, the average income only reached 11,2 million VND/person/year, then now, the average income has increased to 42,5 million VND by the end of 2023.
We visited 32 households living around Se San lake, people from An Giang, Long An, Dong Thap, Kien Giang... came to work as fishermen under the lake. Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu was emotional as he pulled the fish: "It's been a decade of living adrift, floating on the water, thinking that I would never have a house on land. But the lives of people in the fishing village have "changed" since the end of 2019, when the government approved imports for households, giving each household 400 m2 of land and 50 million VND to build a house. After so many years of floating, over a hundred people could not have imagined that today they would set foot on land to settle down and build a new life," his voice choked.

We can clearly see the roadmap for innovating leadership methods in Ia Toi. The Party Committee assigns cadres to follow village cell activities, discuss together, solve people's difficulties, learn about practice, and meet. , dialogue with the people to handle work on the spot with the motto "Tell the people to believe, make the people follow, don't let the people wait, let the people wait". Being close to the people and close to reality, the effectiveness of work is clearly seen, especially the trust and responsibility of officials and party members are aroused in the spirit that all policies must originate from life.
"Ia Toi continues to proactively turn potential into resources, neutralize risks, be dynamic, self-reliant and resilient," Secretary Trung affirmed. This clearly shows that the steps and vision of the staff have brought steady progress in the border lands. With a long-term development mindset, a roadmap and a team of dedicated leaders who dare to work for the people, Ia Toi will certainly soon achieve the expectations set out as expected.
