More than two weeks after the disaster, the scene remains chaotic. Sections of roads are blocked by mud and rocks like walls, many houses have been swept away or buried in dried mud; schools and cultural centers are covered in thick, damp earth. In Ta Đo village, Muong Tip commune, Nghe An province, the electricity system has yet to be restored due to severe infrastructure damage, forcing many households to seek shelter with neighbors or relatives. Huge blocks of earth and rocks that have spilled onto the roads make clearing them by hand almost impossible.

Ms. Loong Y Khin, from Ta Đo village, Muong Tip commune, lives alone in a house built by the local government a few years ago as part of a charitable initiative. The recent devastating flood submerged the entire house in thick mud and debris. Since the water receded, she has had to stay with a neighbor on the high mountain slope, as she cannot cope with the heavy mud and debris alone. One day, a group of soldiers was dispatched to help. The sounds of shovels and hoes mingled with the noise of mud being thrown out. After a day of hard work, with not a dry spot on the soldiers' uniforms, Ms. Khin's small house was cleaned, restoring its tidiness after the flood's destruction.

To reach the settlements, the soldiers had to march along high mountain roads, many of which were prone to landslides and posed safety risks. On their first day in Muong Tip, the officers and soldiers of Regiment 335 quickly cleaned the multi-purpose building of Muong Tip 2 Primary School to use it as a resting place. A prolonged power outage meant a lack of clean water, forcing the unit to lay nearly 1km of water pipes from the stream. They brought enough food and supplies for three days, after which the logistics department had to organize supply vehicles to travel the treacherous terrain to three locations: Muong Tip, My Ly, and Bac Ly.

Soldiers of the 324th Division actively assisted the people of Ta Đo village, Muong Tip commune, in cleaning up after the flood. |
With the motto "effectively assisting the people while ensuring safety," the soldiers of the 324th Division not only overcome immediate difficulties but also consider long-term solutions to ensure the safety of both personnel and civilians. This includes close coordination between the command and local authorities, a rational logistical supply plan, and a spirit of selfless dedication to the people in the border region who are in dire need of support. Faced with a massive workload, the 324th Division scientifically deploys its forces. Work continues from early morning to late afternoon, yet safety principles and discipline are maintained.
Amidst the mountains and forests of western Nghe An, still shrouded in mud and rocks after the floods, the green uniforms of the soldiers have become a solid pillar of support, helping life here to quickly recover.
