On the morning of January 31st, the Ho Chi Minh City Former Football Players Association, together with the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club, organized a charity tournament at Tao Dan Stadium, with the participation of four teams: Ho Chi Minh City civil servants, former Ho Chi Minh City men's football players, the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club, and staff and faculty of Saigon University.
The tournament aims to celebrate the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress, and at the same time express gratitude and share with former female football players of Ho Chi Minh City who are facing difficult circumstances on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.
This event not only demonstrates the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source," but also serves as a meaningful encouragement to former female football players from Ho Chi Minh City who have made significant contributions to the glorious achievements of women's football in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnamese women's football in general.
With that significance in mind, all the participating players were very enthusiastic. Even older players like the captain of the Ho Chi Minh City Civil Servants' team, Tran Hoang Ngan – a member of the National Assembly – were excited.
Not only did Mr. Tran Hoang Ngan play for his own team in the match against the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club, but he also enthusiastically took to the field for the Saigon University Staff and Faculty team in the match against the Ho Chi Minh City Former Men's Football Players. He even scored a goal.
Sitting in the stands, the former Ho Chi Minh City women's national team players, including former captain of the Vietnamese women's national team Truong Thi Ngoc Mai, were deeply moved. They were especially touched by the kindness shown to them by the organizers and the players through meaningful Tet gifts.
