Village elder Y Guk Nie, also a prestigious person in Ho village, excitedly said: “Those new cars are the means of transport that villagers could only dream of before. Now, thanks to coffee and durian trees, people’s lives have completely changed.”
The change of Ho village comes from the hard work of the people, boldly changing the crop structure, applying science and technology to production. In particular, the model of intercropping coffee and durian, two main crops, is bringing high economic value. Currently, the average income per capita of the village reaches 40 - 45 million VND/year. The whole village has only 3 poor households and 18 near-poor households.
This development has the role of village elder Y Guk Nie. He is not only the one who encourages villagers to preserve good customs, culture, and traditional crafts such as brocade weaving and knitting, but also a pioneer in economic innovation.
When the durian growing model began to bring about results, old man Y Guk personally visited successful models in other places and then returned to organize trade meetings, promote and analyze the economic potential of this crop. Not just talking, he boldly intercropped durian in his coffee garden. "If you want to have a full stomach, you have to think differently. Our land is good, our climate is suitable, why not boldly plant more valuable crops?" - old man Y Guk expressed.
