Mr. Nguyen Do Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that public-private partnership is one of the important forms to promote the sustainable transformation of Vietnam's agriculture. According to the commitment of Goverment Vietnam at the 2021 United Nations Summit, Vietnam will transform the food system towards transparency, responsibility and sustainability. On March 28, 2023, the National Action Plan for Transforming the Food System to Transparency, Responsibility and Sustainability in Vietnam by 2030 was approved. In this process, the agricultural sector has actively coordinated with the business sector, including CP Group.
One of the notable highlights in the memorandum of cooperation is the promotion of product development under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program. With extensive experience in the agricultural sector and a wide distribution network, CP Group (Thailand) will work with PSAV to develop human resources for rural development through the OTOP (Thailand)/OCOP (Vietnam) human resource development program; promote cooperation and trade exchange between the two programs OTOP (Thailand) and OCOP (Vietnam) at the national and regional levels. The two parties will participate in pilot project activities by establishing an OCOP learning center or Tam Nong OCOP Market in combination with Travel community, especially promoting young members for the sustainability of this project.
The two sides promote cooperation between provinces with agricultural potential and advantages in Vietnam (such as Dong Thap, Ben Tre…) with provinces that share similarities in the agricultural sector in Thailand (such as Buriram, Trat provinces...) in terms of local agricultural models, experiential agricultural tourism, eco-tourism, community livelihood development and nature conservation.
In particular, the two sides will jointly develop, share and replicate initiatives; organize information and communication activities on public-private cooperation to promote the transformation of the food system towards transparency, responsibility and sustainability.
The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company and PSAV marks an important milestone in the journey to build a sustainable Vietnamese agriculture. The combination of experience, resources and vision of the two sides will create a combined strength, contributing to solving challenges in agriculture and improving people's lives, towards a sustainable agricultural ecosystem, bringing benefits to both producers and consumers.
At the signing ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan assessed that cooperation in the form of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is one of the important strategies that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development always aims for to create new driving forces for the sector. The agricultural sector highly appreciates the participation of CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company in the PPP Working Group on Livestock, especially the activities to support and enhance the capacity of farmers and other partners in the livestock value chain. This is one of the evidences showing that enterprises are playing a pioneering role in promoting sustainability in the agricultural sector.
Minister Le Minh Hoan hopes that with this cooperation, the two sides will open up new thinking space, cooperation space, and values, creating a foundation for sustainable agricultural development.
