Family members announced that singer Ma Thai Son passed away at 8:20 PM on November 26th after a period of treatment at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (An Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), at the age of 51.
He has suffered from severe kidney failure and tricuspid valve regurgitation for a long time. Despite swollen legs, weakness, and the need for dialysis, the singer still tries to perform to make a living.
Over a month ago, his condition suddenly worsened, and Ma Thai Son was taken to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital for emergency treatment by an acquaintance.
At this time, he was in a coma, suffering from a blood fungal infection and his leg was necrotic due to a widespread soft tissue infection, and the doctors ordered him to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
Ma Thai Son had no family and was cared for by his maternal aunt. Due to his difficult circumstances, he received donations from colleagues to help cover his medical expenses. However, the singer's condition did not improve; he gradually weakened and passed away.
Many colleagues, such as artist Hong To, singer Mai Tuan, Che Khanh, etc., sent their condolences and words of encouragement to Ma Thai Son's family.
His niece, singer Truc Chi, shared on her personal page: "He was a gifted singer, someone who lived life to the fullest for his profession, his audience, and for life itself. Not everyone has such a beautiful heart as him: kind, genuine, and always loving the stage with everything he had. Life sometimes doesn't favor talented people, but I believe that with the kindness he left behind, he will always be remembered."
The funeral of Ma Thai Son took place from the morning of November 27th to November 30th in Hamlet 54, Binh Hung Commune, after which his remains were cremated at Da Phuoc Vien Cemetery.
Singer Ma Thai Son, whose real name is Phan Quang Hai, was born in 1974 and was once a star at fairs in the Mekong Delta. Despite being a fairground singer, he was still loved for his good live singing ability and emotional delivery. Later, he was no longer a favorite among show promoters and gradually faded into obscurity.
