Relatives reported that singer Ma Thai Son passed away at 8:20 p.m. on November 26 after a period of treatment at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (An Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), at the age of 51.
He has suffered from severe kidney failure and tricuspid valve regurgitation for a long time. Despite his swollen legs, weak health, and need to maintain dialysis, the singer still tries to perform to make a living.
More than a month ago, Ma Thai Son's condition suddenly worsened and he was taken to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital by an acquaintance for emergency treatment.
At this time, he was in a coma, had blood fungus infection and his leg was necrotic due to widespread soft tissue infection, and was ordered by the doctor to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
Ma Thai Son had no family and was cared for by his aunt. Due to his difficult circumstances, his colleagues donated money to help pay his hospital bills. However, the singer's condition did not improve, he gradually weakened and died.
Many colleagues such as artist Hong To, singer Mai Tuan, Che Khanh... sent condolences and encouragement to Ma Thai Son's family.
His niece - singer Truc Chi shared on her personal page: "You are a gifted singer, a person who lives with all his heart for his profession, for his audience and for life. Not everyone has a beautiful heart like you: gentle, honest and always loves the stage with all they have. Life sometimes does not favor talented people, but I believe that with the kindness you left behind, you will always be remembered."
Ma Thai Son's funeral took place from the morning of November 27 to November 30 in Hamlet 54, Binh Hung Commune, after which the coffin was cremated at Da Phuoc Vien Cemetery.
Singer Ma Thai Son, whose real name is Phan Quang Hai, was born in 1974 and was once a star of the Western fair. Although he was a fair singer, he was still loved for his ability to sing live well and emotionally. Later, he was no longer the face that show organizers loved so he was gradually forgotten.
