When using a mobile phone, protecting personal information is one of the top concerns. Locking apps on an iPhone is a common solution for protecting important data on the device. In this article, we will provide you with two ways to set a password for messages on your iPhone to keep your data safe.
Method 1: Lock messages on iPhone in settings.
When you receive a new message on your iPhone, the notification may display part of its content on the lock screen. This means others can read a portion of your message without unlocking your device. To ensure the security of all your messages on your iPhone, you should lock your messages by following these steps:
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your device.
Step 2: Select General Settings.
Step 3: Select Notifications > Messages.
Step 4: Select "Show on lock screen".
Step 5: Switch the "Allow notifications" setting from ON to OFF.
Set a password for the Messages app on your iPhone.
After completing the steps above, to view the message content, you will need to enter the password to unlock it.
Method 2: Lock messages on a jailbroken iPhone using third-party software.
You should know that iPhones only allow you to set a screen lock password, not passwords for apps. Therefore, if you want to use this feature, you will have to use a third-party software.
However, using password protection software on an iPhone requires the iPhone to be jailbroken. Why is that?
These applications are not developed or supported by Apple for installation on iPhones. Therefore, using them requires jailbreaking your device. However, please note that once your iPhone is jailbroken, you will no longer receive official warranty coverage from Apple. Therefore, please consider this before making a decision.
Some applications that support security settings for apps and SMS on iPhone include: Black SMS, LockDown Pro, and Iencrypttex for iOS.
Step 1: Access Cydia.vn and download one of the three suggested applications to your device > Select the "All Packages" folder. You will then easily find the Lockdown Pro application. Next, download and install the application on your iPhone.
Step 2: After the download and installation process is complete, proceed to customize the settings.
Step 3: Customize settings:
- In the Safety Word section: Register a username to use the Lockdown app. Also, retrieve your password in case you forget your SMS password.
- Password section: Set a password for your account on your device.
- Confirm field: Re-enter the password exactly as it was in the Password field.

After all settings are complete, click Save to save all settings and you're registered. Then, return to the home screen and select "Messages" to set a password for the application. Once the settings are complete, your messaging application is successfully password protected.
From this point on, no one but you will be able to open the Messages app on your iPhone without knowing your security password.
Above are two ways to set a password for the Messages app on iPhone. Hopefully, these steps will help you secure your Messages app.
