On the afternoon of December 24th, the Hanoi Women's Newspaper, in collaboration with Acecook Vietnam, organized an online discussion on the topic "Choosing food and creating nutritionally balanced meals for the family".

According to health experts, health is always considered the most valuable asset of every individual, and nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving health. A balanced and scientific diet not only helps prevent diseases but also provides energy for an active life.

In Vietnamese culture, family meals are not only a place to satisfy physical needs but also to connect family members, cultivate spiritual values, establish family traditions, and maintain customs.

However, the modern lifestyle and the prevalence of processed foods, ready-made meals, and fast food have led to a significant increase in overweight, obesity, and diabetes rates among Vietnamese people, especially children. Worryingly, many families still maintain the misconception that chubby children are healthy, inadvertently creating an overnutritious diet for their children.

According to Le Quynh Trang, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Women's Newspaper, with the desire to provide female members and readers with useful knowledge about health care, food selection, and building a balanced diet, Hanoi Women's Newspaper collaborated with Acecook Vietnam to organize this exchange event. This is also an opportunity for participants to listen to insights from experienced nutrition experts.

During the exchange session, Dr. Chu Thi Tuyet – Head of the Nutrition Department, Friendship Hospital – particularly emphasized the importance of fiber in daily meals. Fiber not only aids digestion but also helps control blood sugar and blood lipids, especially beneficial for people with diabetes or cardiovascular disease. The expert also stressed that balancing energy intake and expenditure is a crucial factor for sustainable health.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam – former Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition – believes that choosing clean, safe food and preparing it in a balanced way with all nutrient groups is a prerequisite for ensuring good health. The expert also suggests applying a nutritional pyramid suitable for each age group to optimally meet the body's needs.

Specifically, adults need 3-4 servings of vegetables and ripe fruits daily, combined with protein sources such as meat, fish, and tofu, while children can eat fried foods in moderation, and the elderly should prioritize boiled or steamed dishes to limit trans fats.

Beyond simply providing in-depth knowledge, the experts also diligently answered practical questions from readers and female members regarding how to choose safe food; prevent nutrition-related diseases; and how to properly adopt vegetarian and dieting practices to ensure good health.
