Use your phone's camera.

It's very difficult for the naked eye to see infrared rays emitted from TV remotes, cameras, etc., but smartphones can do this.

Most cameras nowadays are equipped with infrared lights for night vision, so if you're worried about being secretly filmed, you can use this little trick to detect it.

First, turn off all the lights in the room. The infrared light on the camera will automatically activate (if available). Then, open the camera app on your smartphone and point your phone around the room. If you see purple or red dots in the viewfinder, there's definitely a hidden camera in the room.

Observe the room in normal lighting.

Let's observe everything under normal lighting conditions. Check if you see any unusual items or objects placed in strange locations.

Remember, a camera needs a good, unobstructed view. A dot on an object or wall, a shiny bump on an object, electrical wires... these are all things you should pay attention to.

Turn off the lights and use your smartphone.

Most cameras have high light sensitivity. Therefore, you can take advantage of this characteristic to detect hidden cameras. First, close the curtains and turn off all the lights in the room.

Next, point your phone's flash at suspicious locations. If there's a hidden camera there, you'll see a small red dot or light reflecting off the flash. That's the light coming from the lens of the hidden camera.

Observe the items in the room.

The most common places to hide cameras in the home are electronic devices, followed by smoke detectors, electrical outlets, digital TVs, internet boxes, wall sockets, air purifiers, alarm clocks, etc.

Other common items to consider are wall clocks, pens, lava lamps, tissue boxes, books and shelves, hairdryer holders, and stuffed animals. Plants (among leafy types) and vases are also very popular.

Additionally, if you have sufficient funds, you can purchase specialized devices for detecting hidden cameras. These devices are capable of detecting radio frequency (RF) signals, magnetic fields, infrared rays, etc., used by cameras and microphones.

Above are some of the simplest ways to detect hidden cameras in hotels for your reference.
