Cai Kinh commune was established by merging the communes of Yen Vuong, Yen Son, and Cai Kinh from the former Huu Lung district. Before the merger, only the former Cai Kinh commune was recognized as achieving advanced new rural area standards, while the other two communes, Yen Son and Yen Vuong, had not yet met these standards. Ms. Nong Thi Huyen Trang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cai Kinh commune, said: Immediately after its establishment, Cai Kinh commune formed a Steering Committee for national target programs; assigned specific tasks to its members; focused on reviewing and evaluating the current status of the criteria; and strengthened propaganda and mobilization efforts to build new rural area criteria… The focus was on developing production, increasing people's income, and strengthening infrastructure to maintain and consolidate the criteria already achieved.
Regarding production development, the People's Committee of Cai Kinh commune continues to promote and encourage people to leverage the strengths of agricultural and forestry development, especially the custard apple cultivation model. Currently, there are 828 hectares of various custard apple varieties in the commune. In 2025, the People's Committee of Cai Kinh commune will coordinate with relevant units to implement 24 hectares of Thai custard apple cultivation according to VietGAP standards, raising the area of VietGAP-certified custard apples in the commune to 167 hectares. In 2025, income from custard apples is expected to bring approximately 164 billion VND to the people in the commune.
Mr. Le Van Nghia, Party Secretary and Head of Bai Danh village, Cai Kinh commune, said: Currently, the village has 150 households, most of which cultivate custard apples, covering a total area of over 100 hectares. Besides growing the long-grain variety, in recent years, people in the area have increased the area of Thai custard apples and focused on staggered planting. The high and stable income from custard apple cultivation has contributed to improving the lives of the people. Currently, there is only one poor household left in the village. At the same time, many households have built spacious and comfortable houses.
Besides focusing on production development, the People's Committee of Cai Kinh commune continues to mobilize and integrate resources, while also promoting and encouraging the joint efforts of the people to strengthen infrastructure. Mr. Hoang Trung Nguyen, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Lang Lam village, Cai Kinh commune, said: From the beginning of 2025 until now, in addition to support from the State, people in the village have donated about 1,400 m2 of land and contributed 800 million VND to jointly build roads, construct a village cultural house, and build an irrigation canal system... This has created favorable conditions for the people's lives and production development, while consolidating and maintaining the achieved New Rural Area criteria as well as gradually completing the unachieved criteria.
Along with Lang Lam village, thanks to state investment and the collective efforts of the people, by 2025, Cai Kinh commune had concreted nearly 2,000 meters of alleyways and village roads; implemented the upgrading and renovation of 3 main commune and village roads with a total investment of nearly 4 billion VND; dredged and cleared 11 km of canals and irrigation ditches; supported the construction and repair of houses for 108 households; and mobilized people to work together to implement environmental criteria…
To date, Cai Kinh commune has achieved 13 out of 19 criteria for New Rural Development. Investment from the State and the collective efforts of the people have significantly contributed to maintaining and consolidating the achieved criteria. At the same time, it is gradually completing some unmet indicators and criteria related to transportation, schools, income, environment, and food safety…
The achievements in building new rural areas in Cai Kinh commune over the past period have not only created favorable conditions for daily life, production development, and improved living standards for the people, but also directly created an important stepping stone for the commune to successfully achieve the goals and tasks of building new rural areas in the coming period.
