Expanding the search area for the two missing victims.

According to observations by reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper, on November 22nd, the search for the two missing victims of the garbage truck (specialized truck) with license plate 75C - 044.83 that collided with the railing of Binh Thanh suspension bridge and fell into Huu Trach river (Binh Thanh commune, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province) on the morning of November 21st, is still being actively carried out by the forces.

Search units are looking for the two missing victims downstream of the Binh Thanh suspension bridge and have expanded the search area to the downstream of the Huu Trach River - a tributary of the upper reaches of the Huong River.

Downstream of the Binh Thanh suspension bridge, the search team of Hue Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, in coordination with rescue forces of Thua Thien Hue province, expanded the search area downstream of the Huu Trach River.

Local authorities in Binh Thanh commune mobilized three motorboats to coordinate with functional forces in searching along the river.

The Quang Nam SOS team, with 2 motorboats, 1 submersible, and about 8 people along with various specialized equipment, also arrived at the scene to carry out search operations from the night of November 21st.

Some people stood on the bridge watching the search units looking for the missing victims.

Meanwhile, on the morning of November 22nd, it continued to rain, and the Binh Dien hydropower plant upstream of the Huu Trach River resumed its water regulation operation downstream, making it impossible to carry out diving searches.

The river water rose and the current became strong, making the search for the two missing victims extremely difficult. By the afternoon of November 22nd, diving operations were still unable to be deployed, and rescue forces and local residents were using boats and canoes to search the river.

Trucks and buses are prohibited; only vehicles with 5 seats or fewer are allowed to cross the bridge.

Notably, alongside the search for the two missing victims, authorities have also agreed on a plan to restrict vehicle weight limits on the Binh Thanh suspension bridge over the Huu Trach River following the incident where a car with license plate 75C - 044.83 collided with the bridge's railing and fell into the river, resulting in the two missing people.

Local authorities are stationed at both ends of the bridge to ensure traffic flow and remind people not to stand on the bridge.

Trucks and buses are prohibited from crossing the Binh Thanh suspension bridge, and only vehicles with 5 seats or fewer are allowed, instead of the current 8-ton weight limit.

Regarding the section of railing on the Binh Thanh suspension bridge that was damaged and fell into the river after being struck by a garbage truck on the morning of November 21st, temporary repairs have been made. The unit assigned to maintain the bridge will proceed with permanent repairs in the next few days.

Members of the Quang Nam SOS Team rested after lunch at the beginning of the bridge, then moved along the river to search for the two missing victims.

The Binh Thanh suspension bridge is located on the main road (currently Provincial Road 12D) connecting the center of Binh commune with National Highway 49A (Hue - A Luoi). It was built in 2001 as a cable-stayed suspension bridge, nearly 140m long and over 4m wide.

Over the years, the increasing volume of traffic has caused the bridge to deteriorate.

There were two people in the car at the time of the accident, and they are currently missing.

The two missing victims have been identified as Ton That Tin (born in 1997, residing in Thuy Van ward) - the garbage truck driver, and Nguyen Dang Thanh (born in 1966, residing in Phuong Duc ward, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue province).
