Need to fix unfinished items soon

The project to upgrade and renovate Tam Ky Stadium and athlete housing, which received an investment of 40 billion VND, has been put into use; however, some items are still unfinished and do not meet quality standards.

The Tam Ky Stadium upgrade and renovation project has a total investment of 40 billion VND, including items such as: lighting system, renovation of the playing surface, running track, grandstands and office building, and a 3-story residential building… The project is being constructed by TATT Consulting Design and Construction Co., Ltd. with a winning bid of 31.1 billion VND.

The project commenced on March 26, 2024, and is expected to be completed in May 2025. To date, some items have been completed, such as: upgrading the turf, installing an automatic irrigation system; and the athletics track. The remaining items are under construction. Some of these items have been handed over but the aforementioned problems have occurred.

Mr. Le Dinh, General Director of Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company, said: "When the investor handed over the project (upgrading and renovating Tam Ky Stadium and housing for athletes) to the management unit, there were still many outstanding and incomplete items during the usage process. Therefore, we have submitted a written request to the relevant authorities of Quang Nam province to consider and resolve these issues."

Specifically, on February 21st, Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company sent document No. 21 dated February 21st, 2025 to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board (the investor), requesting guidance on completing the remaining items of Tam Ky Stadium for use. These include: the installation of seating for grandstand A, which the construction unit has yet to install, causing frustration for spectators; a malfunction in the turf irrigation system since January 23rd, which has not yet been repaired, affecting the quality of the turf; the construction unit failing to hand over specialized equipment for turf maintenance and neglecting to maintain the turf, resulting in dry and withered grass; and serious water leaks discovered in several functional rooms during use.

Mr. Vo Van Diem, Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, stated: "After receiving the request from Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company, we inspected and recorded the actual situation of the Tam Ky Stadium upgrade and renovation project. The Project Management Board has directed the construction unit and relevant units to promptly address the remaining issues to ensure a good environment for players participating in matches and spectators attending football games at Tam Ky Stadium."

Previously, Mr. Phan Thai Binh , Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, along with relevant departments, inspected the implementation of this project. During the meeting, Mr. Binh requested that the relevant units conduct acceptance testing of several items to ensure the Quang Nam team can host V-League matches. Regarding some rows of seats in Stand A of the Tam Ky Stadium, he requested that the construction unit quickly install them, with completion no later than January 30, 2025.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, said that the Provincial People's Committee has sent a document to the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and TATT Consulting, Design and Construction Co., Ltd., requesting them to urgently organize inspections, agree on solutions to address the remaining issues of the project, and report the results to the Provincial People's Committee for monitoring; in case of any issues arising beyond their authority, they should report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and resolution.
