Can Tho spends 457 billion VND to support tuition fees

TPO - From the 2025-2026 school year, students from kindergarten to high school in Can Tho will receive tuition support from the budget, and students from private schools will also receive tuition support equivalent to public schools, with a total estimated cost of more than 457 billion VND.

On November 14, the People's Council of Can Tho City passed a Resolution regulating tuition fees and tuition support from the budget for students of public, private, and non-public schools from the 2025-2026 school year.

Can Tho spends budget to support tuition fees for students of both public and private schools from this school year.

Accordingly, the tuition fees for public preschool and general education institutions that are not self-sufficient in regular expenses are applied as follows: Preschool and primary level is 90 - 100 thousand VND/month/student, respectively, according to commune and ward; secondary level is 100 - 120 thousand VND/month/student; high school level is 120 - 140 thousand VND/month/student.

Tuition fees for online learning are applied at 75% of the above tuition fees.

The above tuition fees apply to public kindergartens and primary schools that are not self-sufficient in regular expenses, and to students following general education programs at private schools.

The above tuition fee level is determined as the basis for Can Tho to spend the budget to support students at both public and private schools from the 2025-2026 school year. Particularly, preschool and general education students following the general education program at private and non-public educational institutions are supported with tuition fees equal to 100% of the tuition fees prescribed above.

The total estimated budget for the above policy is about 457 billion VND, of which tuition support for students of private schools is about 19 billion VND.

The above policy was developed by Can Tho on the basis of Decree 238/2025/ND-CP of the Government and Resolution 217/2025/NQ-QH15 of the National Assembly on tuition exemption and support.
